I saw a sign up for this item:

Leaf Mamiya Pro Digital 6

I can't quite figure out if it is a camera, or if it is some kind of digital device that you put on your camera in place of the film, or what.

Does anyone out there know what a 'Digital Back' is?

A device that you can insert behind a non-digitial camera, usually medium format cameras and make it into a digital camera. More on medium format film cameras.

Although the one you mention is only 6MP, a 22MP digital back is about $25,000. And that doesn't even include the medium format camera that it attaches to or the lenses. =]

This review might not be the same exact model, but should give you a good idea of what a "digital back" is...

I plan on starting to enter with my 22Mp Leaf back fairly soon. I look forward to my first DQ request or top 5 finish :)

How's that for one-upmanship Eddy? Kidding as per usual. ;)

First the sheep won't let us edit because they don't want to learn photoshop. Then the sheep further restrict creativity by telling us that if our interpretation of the theme doesn't communicate directly to them, they won't score it worth beans. Now you come along with a 22mp. The sheep will be furios. Next we'll all be shooting on 2mp Kodaks, just so everything is fair, and all of our pictures look exactly the same. Maybe we could even all buy our dog's from the same kennel, and the same blood line, just to be fair.

Thanks for breaking out of the pack Eddy. Can't wait to see if you know how to run that thing!! Suerte
