Now guys, you didn't all go down there and BORE the poor animals to death, did you???? I thought that, if nothing else, you would be great entertainment for them!

these shots are really good for the fact that you have captured this animal in a relatively rare action he engages in.. i wish you have captured the last 2 images fully, animal's head being off the border isnt so good.. also these images may use some sharpening. i use d70 too and found sharpening in post processing helpfull. last shot is my favorite but head of the animal being off the border posses the biggest problem here. i think if it was captured in full it would have been a remarkable shot.. good captures nevertheless.. keep it up..

Your critique is well founded regarding the out of frame condition on the last two. It was recognized soon after as we were high 5ing the good fortune, only to realize that we missed the "best" framing. It was yet another learning experience...that when you are blessed with a rare capture, be sure and remember the rest of the job.
Glad you liked them.
Calvus....you are right of course....I did have an excellant teacher.
laurielblack....not sure if we were boring the animals.....but they did not seem too interested in our discussion of aperatures and dof..... :)
