Not prejudiced...

Unfortunately, tone cannot be depicted here.

But I am a conservative.

Right or wrong, it is what it is...

and when someone posts something from a writer that is a KNOWN basher of conservative views, I choose not to entertain myself with those so-called "facts".

Ok... and the fact still remains that CLINTON made military budget cuts as well.

I'm not saying Bush was a perfect president... but he was d@mn sure better than Clinton was

And none of you, IMO, have nearly enough of them to make a well informed decision.

Awesome how we are each entitled to our own opinions, huh? ;)

I base my opinion from what I saw with my husband and the Clinton Administration...

And it is my opinion, that it is probably in my best interests, to leave this thread.

Have fun debating, people.

I've already started a petition to just allow Cory, sole knower of all facts, to personally select our president.

You are if you are pre-judging what someone says without considering the possibility it is correct -- that is the meaning of the word. My dad always used to say that the conservative's mantra was "My mind's made up -- don't confuse me with the facts." Glad to see demonstrable proof ...

Pot, kettle, black. That door swings both ways. I've heard more liberals say things like "Why would I ever listen to a conservative?" or ones that refuse to watch Fox news because they can't trust their own minds to distinguish between what is biased and what is fact - so they tune into MSNBC for "fair" reporting. .......... sorry, I just threw up a little in my mouth* ...... Ignorance runs rampant across the entire electorate.

Did you actually read the link? I clearly state that I don't vote because I'm all to aware that I don't know enough about any of them.

It would take 100's of hours of research to even come close to knowing enough to make a well informed decision.

Frankly Art, your retort disappoints me, as I figured you'd be one of the ones that are smart enough to see the problem with a people who are completely uninformed making the decision as to who's going to be our next leader.

Say what you will, but we elect our leaders based upon how good they are at manipulating the poor, dumb, average voter. Sad, but true.

I think we agree that many people are too ignorant. I think the issue I had was your use of the word "you" instead of "us" or "some of you". I don't make assumptions about who is or is not ignorant, but if they demonstrate... ;-) (not referring to anyone specifically)

Generality. (ooh, potentially ambiguous answer!) ;-)

Not you, GE - you always seem reasonably open to hearing other viewpoints.

OK ... one of my dad's other favorite sayings was that changing your mind could be a good thing, since it provided scientific proof that you had one.

And that is an opinion that you are fully entitled to. I however feel the opposite way, and I am also entitled to that. ;D

Wasn't that the original point of the electoral college(s)? - The idea being that yer average Joe doesn't know enough about running the country to say who should be doing it, but he (ok, so the girls get to vote now too, but then it was he) might be able to identify someone who is better able to make such a judgement...

Clinton DESTROYED our military... which is my main reason for hating him so passionatley.
These men gave their lives, they fought for their country... for what? to be treated like crap?
my husband was in when Clinton was in office. He was infantry. What happened? They (the government... clinton's bright idea) cut back on the military budget. So rather than getting the PROPER nutrition supply, my husband got to eat crawdads/crawfish out of the creeks. Rather than being able to get new boots when his old ones wore through the soles, he had to wear those old ones... roadmarching miles upon miles... through the mud, the creeks, the hills... with his feet bleeding through them.
Don't tell me Clinton was a good president, or imply I'm wrong for calling him a name.
I'm glad to see him gone...
now, if we could get this current IDIOT out of the office...

The thing that astounds me is that anyone would voluntarily enter the military. The foreign policy of this country has been so absolutely wretched for so long that I would never trust the government, regardless of which party's leader is running the show, to do the right thing.

OMG You touched on a nerve here. The reason why you are speaking English right now is because of the military. It is quite obvious that you are not a patriotic person. I have also surmised that you don't care where this country is going as long as you get yours....Ok I am done an now I need a drink!!!!!!!!!

Have to agree. The only reason you can speak out like you do and survive is because of people like Adam, myself and millions of others past and present. Maybe you should try living in a country that the military solely supports a totalitarian government instead of a republic.

Eta: Adam, I'll have a beer with you! (again)

The foreign policy of the US is pretty abysmal. Should we go through countries with which yours has interfered, or not, to the benefit of yours. Chile, Panama, Guatamela, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Pakistan, Rwanda, Congo, Libya, Liberia, Cuba, .....
You also have ridiculous things like the Carter doctrine, which seems entirely selfish at the surface. Actually, it's selfish at all levels.

So your response is that as an American citizen, I cannot or should not question the foreign policy decisions of my elected leaders? I have to switch off my critical faculties in order to be considered patriotic? I don't understand how your response actually addresses my question. You, along with most Republicans, at the moment anyway, bash the government unceasingly for near total incompetence in all realms, yet you willingly and voluntarily trust that same government to make potentially immediate life and death decisions over your own life. Do you not see the inconsistency, especially given some of the very poor foreign policy choices of this government spanning decades and both political parties?

You know, there is a difference between being critical of the foreign policy decisions of our leaders and being critical of military personnel. The military doesn't set foreign policy.
