So, I bought a an Alien Bees ring flash which inspired me to do a series of portraits/headhsots of people I work with using the flash which then inspired me to start a photoblog about it. I am a horrible writer, so it will mostly be pictures. Just wanted to share in case anyone was bored...

Some very nice shots, Todd.

That was an entertaining read. Perfectly readable just by the photos. It's amazing how cooperative and supportive coworkers can be. One summer I did a series of portraits of people at work, holding an ice cube in their teeth. That was so much fun.

really nice work, todd!

and damn, now i'm on the fence about that ringflash :( i bought it and liked the results, but hate how cumbersome it mount and un-mount it. it's too big not to have on a tripod, which makes it not very easy to use, especially in a dynamic shoot.

on the other hand, if i was doing nothing but cattle-run headshots, it looks like it would be perfect - just set it up and let them rip on through.

damn. do i keep it or send it back. uhg...

Skip... cumbersome is a perfect description of it, but it is worth the pain in my opinion. I used it to shoot some football team photos and the shots came out amazing. I just need to make sure I don't go overboard and get burnt out on it!

pixelpig - I do work with some amzing people. Other than my 8 months "work vacation" to Germany i have been here for 11 years, so I have made some deep and long lasting relationships. I recently bought some really cool glasses that have a little mustache hanging of them, not the Groucho Marx kind... I think i may try to do something with those...Skip... cumbersome is a perfect description of it, but it is worth the pain in my opinion. Thanks Mark!

I took six more at lunch today. Very excited to process those. A couple could turn out very coolâ€Â¦

The best part of the whole process so far is the reaction received from one of the women I shot. She just really loves her picture and it reminded me why I love taking pictures of people so much. Just having the opportunity to capture a small moment in someone’s life it such a cool thingâ€Â¦
