That reminds me of a beautiful Ulysses (swallowtail) butterfly that I used to see in Australia, it had a vivid blue colour on it's wings. Amazing creatures they are.

I believe the common name is
Red Spotted Purple Butterfly

Red-spotted Purple, it is.

On June 13, 2012, I was lucky to photograph a Two-tailed Swallowtail. The state butterfly of Arizona.



I had never seen one before. I suspect the warming trend has expanded the range of some species.
