So I am happy to say that for the first time in many years, all of my brothers and I will be together for a weekend. I have this idea to get brother photos done for each of us to have as well as a copy for my mom and dad to have for the house. I want to do something REALLY cool... Not your typical "stand there and smile" family shot.

I have been looking at band photos on google and I thought about doing something like that.

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas I should try while I have all of them together?

P.s. - I don't have any lights at the moment. :/

ETA - There are four of us if that helps...

Just brainspewing here... Shoot outdoors, natural light, various cool locations. Get & test a wireless remote and/or a cheap time lapse wired remote. Do a mixture of bad boy scenes and decent young men scenes. Hire some hookers models. Get some goofy or outrageous costumes & props. Try some theme ideas. Spend a few hours or more shooting & have a blast. Keep in mind the rarity of you all getting together, so make it count.

Hope that helps. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

That could be interesting seeing as how I am the only brother who is not married with a kid! Lol.

Thanks for the ideas! Keep em coming! :)

Marko, does each one of you have a favorite sport that you like to play? Say all four of you are each interested in sports that has a ball in it - volleyball, basketball, football, baseball. Each brother has one photo and you would arrange the final composition in a foursquare. They would all be action shots in which all the balls would be 'going' to the corner. The football, volleyball, baseball, basketball would all be converging toward the centerpoint + of the final arrangement. This would be very challenging...and time consuming to get it right but it would be a cool idea.

If my brain shoots out any other ideas other than ones already suggested I post them here.

I know my two sons fight all the time, didn't you fight with your brothers?

You could do some "fighting pictures" only make it funny. Think "3 Stooges"...

With there being four of you, it may be fun to recreate any Beatles album cover. Not the "White Album" though.

You're limited on lights, but I bet you could wrangle a reflector (think a foil windshield reflector thing). Or make one out of cardboard and aluminum foil. Then you could do a wider scene. What you can do is think of 4 individually different ways to portray each brother, aspects of them that make up their lives and differentiate them. Think of what defines them, and then think of how to depict that. The reflector comes in because you can show all 4 brothers in the same scene by shooting on a tripod and doing a composite with another one of them holding the reflector, then provide them all together in post.

ETA: For example, I'm assuming you're more into photography than your brothers, so when you're in the shot you could have your d40 in hand and you could be directing the rest of them all into a pose and looking frustrated because they aren't cooperating, but they're all dressed/set up in ways that define them. Something like that. Make it more personal, make it fun, make it a learning exercise.

Thank you all for the ideas! I have been thinking a lot about each of the suggested ideas you all have given me. I think the biggest tip I got was this.

"Spend a few hours or more shooting & have a blast. Keep in mind the rarity of you all getting together, so make it count."

I can't wait to get all of these shots done and edited! I have a feeling that this will be a lot of fun! I've got some ideas that I will try that haven't been suggest but I know for sure that I will be trying most if not all of the suggestions you all have made!

Thank you all for the ideas! Keep em coming if you think of more! ;)
