LOL Ok so I posted this and then crashed out last night.

I think the suggestion by Mike was easier to understand than the description. If I'm to interpret this right, the photo shall depict the outcome of a yes or no question. What confused me was that the description says the question IS "Yes or no?" Then it says don't give away the questions... but if that IS the question? LOL.

In other words:
"Take a photograph that answers the question: Yes or no?" ====>>> "Take a photograph that answers a yes or no question."

As mentioned before, a reaction to a marriage proposal would be an easy example. The yes or no question would be "Will you marry me?" and the photo would convey what the person asked would have done. Then you'd guess both. That makes sense. :P

So if the picture does not clearly represent a "yes or no" answer as described in the post contest description will it be disqualified. If you don't know what the question or answer is how do you vote on the challenge other than to vote on whether or not it is a good picture only to find out after the challenge is over whether it satisfied the challenge.

If the image can't convey either or, then it's probably not a good photo. I'm sure some entrants will be overly clever to their detriment.
Just remember this is DPC, if it doesn't meet the challenge the vast majority don't care, so everything will be fine.

Just to be clear, the title cannot be the question?
The image must convey cleverly what the question would be?

Thats a lot of inferring that has to be done.

Gack!! I just figured out why this is driving me up the wall!! The description says two different things!

First it says the photo should answer the question. Then it says that people should guess the answer that the photo asks.

That's two different things, and two different photos.

Back to peeing on a stick. If the photo answered the question, the stick tells you she's pregnant. If the photo asked the question, you don't know the result, and there's something to guess.

Usually I can get some sort of twisted understanding of any challenge on here -- but I can't figure out if the photo asks the question or answers it. If it answers it, what fun is it to guess the answer?

Will someone please explain this before my head implodes (or before I sick Art on mike_311?)

i gave up trying to parse the description, and decided to just go with something that could be taken as a Yes/No question OR answer... and i tried to make it an interesting and "good" photo as a fallback! pretty much wanted to cover all my bases! ;-)

lol. when i first suggested this challenge the intent was to have the image ask the question with NO title.

i guess underlining it in my description wasn't strong enough :-/ .

how you are supposed to title it and not give it away is beyond me.

There's a picture that both asks and answers a question!!

That's what we need. One picture that asks the question, then a follow up picture posted in the comments that gives the answer.

I solved this puzzle by coming up with a shot that makes one ask the question by reading expression of subjects and then the answer becomes clear when the question is asked....shoot, now I'm confuzzled too!

How do you answer the question "Yes?" How do you answer the question "No?" If I walk up to you and say "Yes?" you would probably say "What?"

Then I decided that the photograph should answer the kind of question that could have a yes or no answer. Not that many questions are satisfied with a yes or no answer. That's probably why I got a logic headache.

So, I'm going to take a photo of a yes or no answer. You can, too. Take the question "Did the sun rise today?" Your yes answer could be a photo of a beautiful sunrise. Your no answer could be a photo of the end of life as we know it on this planet. And so on.
