Neil Armstrong death was definitely sad, but even more tragic is the death of the count.
My favorite Count moment:

He will outlive us all.
He will make sure of it.

Yeah, Elmo's survival skills outmatch my assassination skills. For now. |

But... did anyone ever prove that the snuffulupagus actually existed? After all, only big bird saw him...
Trivia of the day -- did you know that Mr. Snuffulupagus's first name was Aloysius ?

Yeah, do trivia nights all the time at bars and my noodle is filled with nothing but useless information. |

I felt the same until I watched Elmo: A puppeteer's story, and after my (at the time) 7 month old son fell in love with him. nothing that makes a baby that happy is all bad.

Originally "snuff" (slang for some drugs) was big bird's imaginary friend, and i'm sure a bit of a psychodelic reference, but now he's known to all. What that says for the residents of the street and the water they're drinking, that's something else....

They changed that after a while because they realized it's not very healthy to have a repeating narrative of "if something out of the ordinary happens to you and you try to tell adults, they won't believe you." |

Must have happened around the time Cookie Monster took up rice cakes.
I miss Mr. Hooper. |

I know it sounds overreaching, but if you've had child abuse happen in your family, you understand why they wanted to change this narrative. |

Overreaching? Cookie Monster, yes, but this I can understand in spite of my quip.

That makes sense (for good ol' snuffles.) But changing the cookie monster to vegetables was just silly. :)

Now now, Cookie Monster never went exclusively vegetable or anti-cookie. They just increased and expanded his diet now and then to show that healthy eating is fun too.
See, the problem is that Sesame Street became a victim of its own success. Once they realized that children REALLY WERE LEARNING because of the program, they had to change aspects of it to evolve with a changing society. So things like Adults not believing the things you say, healthy eating and other aspects were a part of that.
Where Sesame Street REALLY failed, in my opinion, was Elmo.
That little bastard down-talking annoying son-of-a-bitch destroyed Sesame Street. |

Actually, elmo's kinda cute. It's what the marketing people did with elmo that got annoying.
At least elmo is better than scrappy doo -- That was the worst decision -- EVER!
