I agree it's up to SC and no amount of examples, name calling, nor anything else is going to make a diff... My eyes are crossed keeping up with this LOL...

It seems to me that all has been said and done... all that needs to happen now is to have a drink together whilst we wait.

*raises her glass*

*begins a rowdy beer drinking song that she makes up on the fly because she doesn't know any rowdy beer-drinking songs*

You can always sing the US National Anthem, for which Francis Scott Key ripped-off the tune of To Anacreon in Heaven, a "rowdy beer-drinking song" (some say that's the only condition in which it can be successfully sung ...).

Only in Korea! I save a lot the year I work and then live off of my savings. I'm not good at finding odd jobs on the fly. I met a lot of people when I volunteered in Haiti that were traveling with next to nothing and just figuring it out along the way (busking, picking fruit, just embracing extreme poverty etc). I unfortunately have the affliction that I like a safety net and a plan. I'm also not great at just randomly asking around for work. Call me bashful. ;D

I used to peddle English to Kindergarteners in Korea. You know, song and dance, ABCs, hey kids, let's learn phonics!! I may well do that again when I get to Brazil but I've got nada in Europe but my savings and a bit of online freelance work. I'm also working on my blog but no "living" from that to speak of as of yet.

I thought there were jobs for teachers of English pretty much everywhere (except the US); depending on what other languages you know and your fluency you might look into working as a translator.

Oh sure but in western Europe you need the EU to get a real job anywhere. There are some special programs you can do in France and Spain but I won't be there long enough to do anything like that. I also don't want to teach English forever. Don't know any other language well enough to be a translator but that would be lovely if I could. That's the goal for Brazil, to become fluent in Portuguese.

You could make an app that reminds you to change your time zone setting as you travel the world.

I'm really sorry I just couldn't resist. My inner smartass is much more powerful than I can control.

Ahhh hahaha. That makes me chuckle. But he's right in a way. I'm not "qualified" in the US to teach English or even ESL as far as I've checked. Depends on the state. Even though I'm a damn good teacher. ;) Eventually I may go back and take the extra classes needed to teach in the US but I've been trying to avoid that calling because even though I love teaching, I have a disdain for how education is generally carried out in our school system (and the Korean one). I would love to teach at an alternative school or teach something outside like farming and permaculture. I'm sure there are opportunities out there but I have a lot of learning to do myself first before I can teach that fully.

You might consider looking into some WWOOF'ing opportunities. I'm not entirely sure about in Europe, but in NZ, you don't necessarily even do farm work, you may just do some chores around the house and such.

Granted, this isn't a JOB, per se, but it would give you a roof over your head and food.

LOL... She already does that! Great suggestion though, since it was clearly right up her alley.. :)

;) Haha no it's not in this thread (at least I don't think so!) but it is in my blog. I've def been looking into some wwoofing and opportunities on workaway.info. Some amazing places. Posts like "come help us maintain our castle." Ok, don't gotta pull my leg.
