Just read this as well. I remember we stayed home from school so we could watch. Had to believe such a "legend" could actually die... |

It's one small step for Neil, one giant leap for Neil's soul. He was a man who travelled into the heavens believing in the One who created the heavens... Until He comes, rest in peace sir.

RIP Neil Armstrong. He was a manifestation of human achievement and curiosity.
I have read an article containing tributes to him by various astronauts and politicians. What I find irritating is the politicians who hold him up as a national hero, when he was, actually, like I said, at the forefront of humanity's desire to find out more about this universe. |

Oh, wow, that is very sad news. The risk that those Apollo crews took in the name of advancing human knowledge and capability was enormous, and selfless.

All hail the quiet, unassuming giants. RIP

This all makes me wonder if there is any future for the manned space program. We've had a few very succesful unmanned probes, but not much other activity in recent years. And the space shuttle fleet being decommissioned? I remember when it was the future.

He represents a great figurehead for the countless number of pioneers of space science and human endevour. I think of it as the time when space travel was personalized, now technology kind of removes the human figuehead. Thanks Neil & your team, you made my growing up exciting. |

Ditto! I remember subscribing to a mail order club where I would get photos and stuff from NASA and I had a huge collection of Apollo stuff. I also remember watching the moon landing on something like this...
We've come a long way. ...at least in terms of TV technology. ;-) |

Ha! I think the TV I watched the landing on was that very same model! No, now that I think of it, the speaker was on the side, LOL!
Regardless, I will definitely go out there tonight and give the moon a wink. Thanks for posting that wink link, cowboy! |

I am moved by his obstinate resistance to the limelight. Especially in the context of today's fame-seeking masses. |
