took these photos today ...first is 'the gardener'....landlord's young son in the slightly overgrown vege garden F3.5,ISO 100, 1/125
2nd pic is my first attempt at sepia......lovely subject - a little silver abyssinian F2.1, ISO 100, 1/250
comments/critique would be appreciated thanks

I like the abby one. Very good job at high key. You even got some black in it. The sepia looks somewhat pinkish on my monitor.
Edit: Looking again, it looks a bit overexposed. You lost some detatls in his tail and chest, but not enough to ruin the picture imo.

I saw that it looked overexposed just after I'd taken it so adjusted the settings to F 2.8 and 1/250, ISO 100 - I just like the almost pastel shadings on the first shot too

I like the 2nd one best. Both of them look like they would be fun to play with in ps. In the original, is there a color difference between the cat and the sidewalk? The monotone treatment makes it hard to see a difference. |

It does seem more pink (than my idea of sepia which is 'brown') I do like the effect though and probably more than if it were brown. Did you take any pictures without the sepia filter Sue? I love the 'look' the cat is giving in the second one.
Oh, and if he is your gardener he needs sacking!

didn't take any pics of the cat w/out the sepia filter this time, she is the same colour as the concrete. How would I prevent the pink the next time I use sepia filter on the camera ?
andi....it's a very 'natural' vege garden ;)
