Ok this one is a bit out there but I feel like it may be pretty interesting. It will likely have a lot of negative opinions and won't be taken with enthusiasm by most but I will toss it out there anyway.

This challenge would be in two phases (two back-to-back challenge weeks)

Week 1: Phase 1 of 2 - The Photographer (Advanced Editing):

Essentially you are a free study photographer with the aim to produce a visually appealing stock photo of any theme you choose. The key difference to this is that by submitting to this challenge, the photographer agrees to 'give away' their stock photo for free to the DPC community and allow for it to be copied from the site after the challenge roll-over for personal use (at 800 pixels max).

Week 2: Phase 2 of 2 - The Graphic Designer (Expert Editing/anything goes):

The following week, nobody is a photographer and we all put away our cameras. The aim is to creates our next entry using ONLY snippets of the stock photos submitted in the previous week. Use as many photos as you like, from whichever entries you like, as many times as you like. One curve ball: the entry MAY NOT contain parts of your own entry from the previous week. Also, none of these entries may be sold later on 'DPC prints'.

Reasons for DQ:

If the entry is identical to a previous entry or contains minimal modifications, ie. only editing within the advanced editing ruleset. These types of photos SHOULD be voted very low as well in the case of minor expert edits resulting in a legal photo.

If the entry used images other than sections of the previous weeks entries.

If the entry used any part of the persons own entry from the week before.

This may be hard a edit with the 800 pixel limit, but in absence of a coding change, maybe we could just say it's part of the challenge?

I know this is more of a graphic design/photoshop competition but what the hey.

So what does everyone think? Too outside of the realm of DPC?? I hope I explained my idea well enough.

Sounds like a cool idea, I can dig it! Count me in if this happens.

That's a heck of an idea. The source images need to be in a workshop to be easily copied, however.

Hmm would it be a pain to disable the clear mask over the images in this challenge? Then right-click copy would do it. Or you could just 'print screen'

Come on Bear...

Anyone with enough PS skills to photochop as suggested already darn well knows how to bypass that via any one of several different methods.

Sounds fun, we did something similar in college. Our professor wanted us to "explore" our creative spirit.

I like the idea but it needs to be made clear in the description that you are allowing others to use your work for the following challenge.

You'd be surprised how many people don't know how to do that, Cory. And we sure aren't gonna post up instructions on how to bypass the "anti-theft protection", now are we?
