Anita, the title is High-Key Blur - the description itself is, funnily enough, an expansion on that. This is exactly what I was alluding to in the other post I made where I quoted the entire description. I seem to remember you agreed with me?
ETA: and this is exactly the reason why I vacillated on entering - I didn't want the arguments to start all over again. So fwiw - I apologise straight up if I've offended you in any way. That was not my intention.

Soft focus, blur, so what, the challenge mentions both, if you enjoy your entry as I do mine, who cares about the scores, Sometimes what you like is appreciated by the masses sometimes not, it would be a terrible thing if everyone was alike, vivre la différence. Let's not do global monoculture but instead embrace diversity, if we end up all the same what could we ever learn. Enter and vote from your heart not your head.

Careful Anita, in some cultures the thumbs-up is as offensive as the middle finger-up is in ours. But I know what you mean. |

[not_sarcasm] Exactly what I was attempting to say, but you've put it so much better. [not_sarcasm]
where's that font when you need it?

So, the title is wrong but the comment is welcome. Thank you for trying. I find it helpful in any case. Keep up the good work! |

Mine is perfect:
Is High Key (at least I think it is),
is soft focus (did it with the hardware hihi),
is blurry ( even I can not tell what it is)
and i titled it with the first line of a favorite poem or song.
Voters (will not) guess the song or poem.
oh, and most importantly I entered it

5.25 so far, with 13 votes.
I sort of doubt that the voters are going back to read the challenge description between each vote. They are probably looking for the usual sparkling bling, so most likely it's going to be that the sharpest shot wins. I'm ok with that. It will be interesting to see if someone works the stats on the results to see how voting for this challenge compares with that of other recent challenges.

urgggh! I knew I should have kept the scores turned off!
the early voters are showing their lack of taste. |

It sounds like you have almost every aspect from the title and description covered but one. Is it interesting? High key + blurry(soft focus) does not necessarily = interesting. |

My votes so far:
Stats: You have rated 44 of 56 images (79%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 6.0227.
I see some awesome photographs in this challenge!
I thought soft focus is a kind of blur, just very delicate...

The evidence suggests I truly mucked up this one. I quite like the photo so either I have bad taste or the photo is DNMC or both:)

Im sure we all did great. There are a lot of good ones out there. Im fairly certain though, that the votes are low because of the controversial "blur" and based on my comments recieved some dont know what high-key is. |

True!
But now I have the perfect 5 and someone who actually guessed the poem/lyrics

For me, soft focus is a degree of blur. As long as the entry is not tack sharp, I will consider that it meets that aspect of the challenge. |

methinks the voters (so far) are taking "blur" too far... it was "soft focus", which as was discussed ad noseum is not the same as blur in the direct sense.
funny, though, i have one of the "higher" scores based on what has been posted... sitting around mid-meh

My score is the same as it always is. But I have received some great comments.
Am I the only one using the internet to find the music, & playing it as I consider what score to give? It's a fascinating experience!!

I'm going to do that. If I guess the title I'll say so in the comment, if I have to Google it I'll say so too. If I can't find any reference to it I'll probably assume it DNMC and I'll say
so - if I come to that conclusion and it's incorrect, please PM me. In my opinion the first line lyrics aspect is the most challenging. The blur/soft focus argument is a non issue, since
both terms were used in the challenge theme/description both will be equally acceptable to me.

While I do appreciate precise use of vocabulary, for me also in this challenge the blur/soft focus argument is a non-issue. It's unrealistic to expect anyone to go out & buy a specialist lens just for this challenge anyway. Voting is slow, listening to music, especially if I listen all the way through, but very entertaining & it adds an extra bit of emotion to the experience that is a welcome change. IMO. |
