| I'm going to buy the new Sony RX 100. I took some still pictures (jpegs) and loved what I saw. Ease of use, size...all make it a great camera. On vacation I'm going to be taking RAW+jepg because apparently it takes time for Adobe to update their software with newer RAW types (I don't know that I'm getting the technical wording right.) Anyways, I was wondering how long it usually takes for them to get new cameras working. |

Adobe Camera Raw is updated periodically.
The real question is will your camera be supported in the current version of Photoshop, or if they will make you upgrade to the next version of Photoshop.

| You mean Lightroom? I usually do PP in LR before exporting as TIFF and editing in Photoshop. Where in there would the problem be, or an upgrade in software possibly necessary? |

i dont think so, because you are using lightrooms rendering engine to generate the tiff. |

All depends on where the camera's release falls compared to Adobe's ACR release schedule. If the camera is released immediately after an ACR release, it could be several months before another release. On average I'd say support is there within 1 to 3 months after release of the camera.
ACR is updated only for current version of Ps. So if you want support for a just-released camera, you will typically need the most current version of Ps (or Lr). Both Ps and Lr use the same RAW processing engine.
