I think you get to make the rules for this project ... that will keep it much simpler. |
I'm never comfortable with that role and usually am more than happy to pass that torch to someone else.
There's a couple of questions that need to be answered, and a very important item that needs to be addressed. Additionally I have two requests.
First the questions.
Someone asked if it was ok to submit more than one photo for the same line. I have waited some time before answering that so I could get a better idea. At this time I would like to suggest that we not do that. Editing the storyboard while not being a burden, is still a task. I've been careful and lucky in not making a blunder (yet), but adding multiple images for the same line would be painstaking.
Another person suggested only submitting one image per person. I leave that up to the individual discretion of each person. I agree having as many people contribute is a great idea, but weight that also with being able to complete this project at some point of time in the near future.
A note to adding more lyrics..... I think the additions were great but I think it best that we finish what we have for now.
Now the important issue.
Tracy and Paul have both offered some suggestions that are worth everyone's consideration. I know both Tracy and Paul have thought this through so my thoughts are directed more to others who may have similar ideas. As much as this project is a tribute to Woody Guthrie, it also contains the works of some very talented photographers. Should anyone have aspirations of doing anything outside of DPC with these images, you must obtain the consent and permission of each artist that has contributed. Their work is protected.
Now finally my requests. I would like to see two more images added to the project. One a title image, and the last image to contain a list of people who contributed.
I think the title page should contain the words "This Land Is Your Land" and "A Tribute To Woody Guthrie". Also if there is a background it should not contain an image of a particular country (flag etc), since the lyrics are multi-national. I leave that open for suggestions, and would like to see what can be offered. The title page would not be to the same first-come standard as was offered with the lyrics. I think we might want to choose from a selection.
Lastly, for those that have contributed or plan to contribute; I would very much like to see the last image to contain the names and signatures of those have contributed photographs. If you could provide a signature or initials (200x100 dpi?) any color on white background. If you don't have the software, a photo of your signature or initials would work as well. Rather than posting a link, if you could email those to garrywhite@sbcglobal.net I would be most grateful. In the email please include your first and last name as it would be shown above/below your signature or initials.
Thanks again all, you've done a very spectacular presentation!
(edited to add the note about additional lyrics, and spelling)

Yeah I would love just to have a screensaver made with the images & song ,,,
Its a treasure and memory of participating with great photographers in 2004,
I will get a consent copyright form if everyone is interested and I would be willing to make and send a copy of the collection on cd pc or dvd play back.

I will work on a title frame. I have a piece of art of Woody Guthrie (similar to a woodcut) that I have legal rights to use, so I might incorporate that.
I have Adobe Premiere if you want to turn this into a movie/slideshow. |

Garry,
Just one thing I noticed when adding my glacier picture, there is a c missing in Arctic (currently spelled as artic).

Thanks Colette!
Paul I look forward to seeing your title frame.
Looks like I'm down to updating the storyboard in the evenings now, and this weekend thru Monday I'll be in the bay area for some r&r. |

Here's a first draft ... I already have permission to use the artwork, and Drew said it was fine to use the DPC logo.

Thanks ... all the text is still editable, and I have a few hundred fonts available if anyone likes something else ... there also might be a more suitable background photo -- that's one I dug up from last Fall, and the quality is really only fair (a foggy scene shot out a moving car window does not lend itself to crisp detail!), although I thought the shapes worked well for the art I had. |

Thanks Mark. I noticed that also, hopefully Laurie will edit/repost in a couple of days; if not I'll PM her and see if she will offer 69217 |

You may also want to look in to ProShow. It allows you to create very impressive slideshows, set to music, and easily create VideoCDs, DVDs, .exe slideshows, AutoRun CDs, web-based shows, etc. It has loads of transitions, the generated files are very compact (if you limit the resolution of your photos to something reasonable), and with the "Pro" version you can even do "Ken Burns" style pan/zooms over a photo to add motion to an otherwise "still" frame. You can also add captions (the words to the song?) The transitions can be easily timed to the music as well.
You can check out a Demo Show here...
Very cool program!

I counted 24 left, so still a ways to go. I'll look to see if I have another picture that will fit. |
