My highest rated picture is actually a very poor photograph. The only reason it scored so high was, in my opinion, because of the idea.

I think my highest rated photo is one of my best.

But my favorite photo, and the one I worked the hardest on, is only my third best.

No, at least in my opinion.
Lot's a great pictures in the duotones challenge and the ones that finished ahead of mine were great but I love this shot.

I think this one would have done better if at the time advanced editing was in place. There's also a cleaned up version in my portfolio.

Not sure why this didn't do better.

This last one I was happy with because I had only taken 4 shots and only 1 was were the dog stayed still jusy long enough for me to take the picture as the truck was pulling away. It didn't turn out exactly as I had planned but hey it is one of my favorites and that's all that matters to me.

I don't think this is my best shot, not even close. I just jumped on the "photograph a printed page" bandwagon that was seeming to get good results for a while. :-)

My highest rated entry is a good image by anyone's standard, IMO. It's the kind of picture, I imagine, many would choose for a postcard.

I, personally, favour images, which are unlike other ones. Many are black and whites or monochrome, some bold, some subtle. All would be expressive of a mood, a human emotion or sensibility. They are, however, never loud, clever (as a single attribute), obvious or cute. I have found that while my kinds of pictures appeal very strongly to some, they are mostly lost on the many.

This is, after all, a popular contest, not an artist's collective.

My highest rated photo isn't one of my favorites at all (yet it won a ribbon)

However, my favorite photo is the 2nd highest rated photo.

I'm reasonably certain that I have not taken my best picture yet...

Nope

Still this one is my favorite of all the pictures I have taken of my boys together..

I am not sure, but I think my performance when giving a challenge is more like I am struggling or trying to make something work that doesnt,
but to take photographs for fun or without deadlines topics and rules, I feel natural!
none of my challenge pictures can even compare to being my best,
before digital, my photos with film show better quality......

All the pics in this thread are very good. It is interesting to see how we all feel about our work compared to the masses.

Two very smart statements. I wish I had said them.

I don't know what "best" means. I know that my "favorite" photos are probablly not the best photos for DPC, which is probablly why they aren't at the top of the scoring chart.

Certainly not. I consider my first and only ribbon as being a luck thing reather than one of my favorite photos. First I whas lucky because it whas a weird challenge and second verry few entries, 86. I think other shots in that challenge sucked more reather than mine whas a good one.
Here it is:

My favorite from all I had submited in the verry few challenges I been in, is this:

People hated it or liked it, but did not ignore it. Even if it ended in the middle of the pack, I don't mind, I got 48 comments during the challenge, all verry different from another and 12 people have it in theyr favorites. In my opinion a good shot is when people hate it or love it, but don't ignore it, a bad one is one they overlook.
My ribbon one didn't get comments anywhere near my favorites even after it stayed for a week on the first page, also only 5 people put it in theyr fav. So I guess is not only me that I like more my favorite than my best score.
