Jokers abound. For those who are new to DPC, I'd point to these guidelines for voting.

Requirements
....
You may not:

...
- vote on an entry based on its server-generated thumbnail.
...
- vote in a manner that suggests an intent to disrupt the voting system.
- offer or cast biased votes for any other user.
...
- discuss any entry in the forums while voting is in progress.
...
- attempt to alter the point totals for any entry in any way.

...

I know you guys know these voting guidelines, but some DPC newbies may not be aware of their existence. I'm sure you are just trying to be humorous and jolly in your forum participation. However, I feel your leadership is in the wrong direction.

Oh golly gee Mr. Hahn... we was just having a little bit of fun. :)

RE: "vote on an entry based on its server-generated thumbnail."

It's not possible for the first vote. Sure you can see the thumbnail and then go to the large version to actually cast your vote -- and therefore cherry pick the good and the bad for your praise or ire... but you cannot actually vote on the thumbnail image -- UNTIL you've voted on the full size one.

However, the site allows people to alter their votes from the thumbnail page -- which encourages actually violating the rules of the site. If you should not be allowed to vote on the thumbnail, the site should not permit you to vote on the thumbnail at anytime of the challenge.

Leadership? You've got the wrong guy. I thought it was pretty clear that was only in jest. But if a leader is really needed to take on this challenge, I'll go find Grog. I spotted him over in the freestudy a few minutes back.

Stats: You have rated 133 of 133 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 9 images (7%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 5.1805.

However, embedded in that average are the following:

5 - 10s
6 - 9s
16 - 8s
9 - 7s

So, I did find some images which were superb.

This seems to be one of those in between things.. The way my score keeps yo yoing im guessing either people like it or they dont.. Nothin in between. So its black or white, not grey;-)

I really dunno but heres wat they say "u may not add text in the images or its borders."

Totally sux and the worst part is that i have already entered in pictures in other current challenges where i have done the same too:-(

Oh yeah.. adding text to the images is definitely not allowed.

I thought you meant you put your name in the title of the image.

I do have a complaint. I feel some people are voting based on the thumbnails abstract appearance. One thing I know for sure, this challenge was not about how abstract your thumbnail appears. As a matter of fact, fair voters will take some time to view the full size image each time they cast or change a vote. I strongly oppose voting on the thumbnail appearance only. I think that should be against the voting rules.

really doubt that's happening. you have to open a thumbnail before you are even given an option to vote. once you vote on that image, you are directed to the next image, which is full sized. i can't see anyone voting, then going all the way back to the thumbnails page, voting on the thumbnail, then going back and repeating.

Naw! First of all, cherry picking can be done from the thumbnail displays before vote #1 is cast. But, then, zip voters can place a vote on images as fast as their bandwidth speed allows. Then, some go back and cherry pick +/- from the thumbnail display. It's a weakness of the system. I think this is unfair voting behavior.

Man how do you know these things, and why do people do such things.

Anyway scores pitiful, still if Wendy can like it, I think that's ok!!

Just finished voting, and gave my highest votes to most of the blurry out of focus masterpieces.

If voting hasn't started on the challenge, it's not to late to upload a replacement image without your name.

Yes, im totally doing that, but what worries me is that there are already 2 more challenges ongoing that i have entered my photographs into.. Its not that i stand any chance of a ribbon, but considering they're my first few entries, im happy with the 5.5 ranges that they're currently on:-(

Don't know what all the hubbub is... I found this to be an inspiring challenge and voted accordingly...

You have rated 132 of 132 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 6.3864.

Half way through voting and here is where I'm at

You have rated 72 of 131 images (55%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 5.6250.

Considering my average vote cast is 5.4338 from 17,409 votes, I would say that I'm well within my typical voting pattern. To be quite honest, I'm not sure why there are sooo many low scores with so many good entries. Perhaps we're all just really far apart on our ideas of Abstract photography. I don't really have any other explanation for it. I don't really want to go into how I voted or my views on abstract photography because I don't think that's right to do while voting is going on. Anyway, I'll finish up my voting tomorrow night and then perhaps do some commenting. Good luck everyone :)

I didn't enter this one, but I voted earlier. I saw a lot of awesome photos, and I gave a 6.3864 average which is higher than my average vote for other challenges.

I would withdraw those entries from the current challenges (self-DQ) and contact the Service Council to ask them to wave the penalty for the DQs, since you did this by mistake as a newbie.

3.8 voting average - that's pretty harsh for a newb

(thinks another newb)
