Really enjoyed your comment as well Richard. I wish I could do better commenting. |

I did get one person to bite... and I agree with the comment.
It's hard to do Ansel in the city and, as it happened, in a week with virtually no cloud cover. I almost didn't enter, but instead I entered the best I could come up with. I still like the picture... I think. |
Ah I see- trying to get the low voters to say why. Rarely happens I am afraid, at least in my experience...
Doing an Ansel with broad voting appeal in the city would be really tough. Maybe something in Central Park with the right sky? I did not even attempt a shot in the city and was at least able to do a quick road trip toward the end of the challenge- thankfully. |

Thanks Richard for the spot on comment. I totally agree with what you said.
A big chunk of low votes today. Down .28 in the last 5 votes. |

I was quite impressed by the quality of the images in this challenge and I believe my average score was 6.4742 and this after the first pass.
Congratulations everyone.

Been dropping a little but still respectable, have not entered in last couple of months but love to try mimic Ansel Adams and could not miss the challenge. |

One comment from Hahn23. Reading between the lines, he seems to find it imperfect and uninteresting, but marginally competent. Fits with the average. Not bad for a lazy shot just to have something to enter.

I appreciate your comment on my comment. As you might guess, it's somewhat risky for me to offer straight-from-the-shoulder comments, but what people need is unvarnished constructive criticism. I thought twice about doing a 100% comment effort. What I found is that the most to say was on images which needed the most help. (Not a suprise enigma.) In our "ribbon-hungry" world, the contribution of helpful comments to weaker images (not necessarily yours, Yo-Spiff) is a void which needs filling.

Thanks for the comment, Richard. Among other things it carries added value coming from a landscape specialist. |

Not sure I'm much of a specialist (based on my current score), but I appreciate the compliment. At this moment, my Spring challenge entry is scoring higher than my AA challenge entry. Oh, well. I see quite a few high caliber AA images which will populate the top end of this contest. Justifiably so. |

Oddly, based on your comment, I feel I should be way up there...
Based on my score... keeping my head above meh. |

I like this one much better than my last AA entry which is my #3 PB. Further proof that the bar has been raised on IQ since then... |

Since the previous AA challenge in January of 2009, new software technology has been introduced. Silver Efex Pro2 was introduced in early 2011. HDR Efex Pro was released in October of 2010. These were milestone events for photographers. Mostly, we were suddenly enabled to control highlights and shadows digitally with our computers ... matching (or exceeding) what AA did in the darkroom. While anyone could do this with the high end Photoshop software, it required a steep learning curve, complex masking and considerable time. The Nik Software stuff represented an evolutionary advance... mostly because of the effectiveness of the software and the ease of use.
I'm hoping the winners of the AA challenge will share their techniques with the DPC membership.

Squeaking past last AA entry. Personally I am happier with this attempt so hoping it holds up but like others have mentioned everyone seems to have stepped it up so anywhere close will be a nice finish. |

You summed it up pretty well, I'm in about he exact same boat, though only 1 (very thoughtful may I add) comment.

Amazing how much things can change in 10 hrs, mine went down last night, then back up again this morning.
I'm sure there are people over 7, who are keeping quiet.
Aha dropped .05 as soon as I posted the above.
If someone thinks a photo is not Ansell style, they should look up his stuff before voting, I know mine is, but someone has alluded to it not being so.

Heck it feels like I'm dreaming. Hope I don't wake up and find out it was just a dream :)
A bit worrying and odd that there's only the one comment to confirm the score.
