Question is, why the heck didn't he shoot it coming at him. Total lack of professionalism on his part. He needs firing!

I am very confused about this. Who shot the video? It certainly looks like it was done from the same level (vs from up above on a bridge or whatever). There doesn't seem to be any zoom compression, so he wasn't far away using a long lens, either.
The car came straight at him - why is he still standing afterwards? |

It looks like the video camera was on a tripod, either on or behind a wall, like the one the guy is leaning on. There may have been a driveway between the camera and the guy in the clip. I noticed that the video is "tripod steady" until the car hits the wall, then it only jiggles a little. I sort of doubt that someone was manning the camera, or it would have moved quite a bit more than it did.
The guy standing was very lucky. Did you notice how after narrowly escaping death, he had his camera up and shooting while car parts were still in the air?

The video cam will have been on a tripod behind a crash barrier.

Aha.... I see. Behind a wall/crash barrier..... but the car wasn't actually meant to crash, right? Although then why put the camera on a tripod if you are just expecting the car to drive past you. Or WAS it meant to crash?
Then why on earth was the other guy standing so close AND wasn't ready with his camera?
Well good thing it all seemed to be ok in the end. "Whateva". Phew. LOL |
