I mislaid a camera card at the weekend when at the coast that contained 4GB of photos. I must have dropped it when swapping cards. Unfortunately I think I lost it on the beach quite far out from the shore so definitely in the area where the sea would be returning later that day. Anyway just wondered if on in the event someone did find it before the sea returned would they just ignore it or hand it in somewhere? I am not sure what I would do - I may try and look at the photos and see if there is any identifying info. I am not concerned about the card itself though I did think I had taken a few cracker shots:) Is it worth trying local lost property for something so small?

Anything is worth a try.

My friend and his girlfriend dropped their waterproof camera in the water on vacation in Okinawa...they dropped it because they were the only people on the little beach and started getting a bit 'freaky'. They didn't realize until the next morning. My friend went out and found it almost in the same place they dropped it. Lucky lucky lucky...

It's a good idea to put a photo of a way to contact you, either email, phone or snail mail on your cards, like a shot of a card saying "if this card is found, please contact "blah blah ect" . Who knows, someone might even return a lost camera if they found that.
My name and email is in the © info in my pix, but I sort of doubt anyone would check that.
Good luck with your search.

I'd think that most folks wouldn't bother trying to return it unless it was very easy (phone number, e-mail address, twitter, facebook, etc.) But who knows? I once found a wallet buried in the sand on a beach, and was able to return it based on a hotel parking lot stub & drivers license name, so let's hope you get lucky...

There have been a few stories in recent years of cameras lost at sea being found and returned to owners, so it is possible that it might turn up eventually. Look at it like a "message in a bottle." Should be interesting to see if anyone finds it and reads it.

Thanks for all the replies. Great idea to write email address on all cards.

Unfortunately for who ever finds my card the only naked bird on it is a Seagull.

Anyway the card was lost in St Ives, Cornwall, UK just in case any of you found it:)

always take a picture of a hot naked girl holding a sign that says to contact her if you found her lost card.

i imagine you will get your card back nearly always. :)

You would certainly have a better chance if a bloke found the card - not sure about if a lady found it:)
