I was shooting at a galla event last night and my buddy lent me a tripod. It turns out I didn't secure my camera properly and it tumbled onto my head and inevitably the floor.

The battery grip kind of parted in two. I didn't have the battery cover so my 5D wouldn't turn on without the battery grip, I took out the screws with a butter knife and put it back together as best I could.

It functioned with my camera but something happened with the connectivity. I spent the rest of the galla holding it together with one hand and praying my camera didn't turn off while they were giving out the awards.

Anyway, I got all the shots I needed in the end, PHEW. BUT. Should I just toss this battery grip? It still works but it's unreliable, has anyone else had this problem?

I was sweating BUCKETS haha, literally seconds before it dropped I mentioned to the videographer, "thankfully nothing has gone wrong." - Never say that sentence.

and that's why you bring along a backup body.

Duct tape might have been handy.

I'd toss the grip.

Spazz. ;-D

You mean you didn't put the cover in the purpose-made slot on the bit of the grip that actually goes inside the camera? :)

HOOO-HAH! I fixed it!!!

I epoxied a screw slot that chipped and it didn't work, but THEN my pops takes a gander and finds a hairline fracture on the circuit board, all fixed with a drop of solder.

Gotta respect the elders man.
