Yes, great guess! I'm still looking to hear a more specific description of this gun. It is quite a distinctive one, and shouldn't be hard to locate a reference.

Yep. There was one more clue though - The "Nat" on the barrel.
So, I think you both did great, and now I just kinda realized I'm not sure which one wins. *shrug* Perhaps you could whack each other with sticks until one of you quits, then the remaining person can post?
Really though, I have no idea who won. Maybe which ever one of you can figure out what the "Nat" is part of, or maybe just whoever posts first? dunno, anything is good.
ETA: Honestly upon review, I think Ryan did have the first correct answer. It may not have been complete, but it's probably unfair to ask more of anyone. Maybe Meow would just prefer to take the stick to me? ;)

Spout of a hand-operated water well pump?

This would never be used for washing, but the bottom part is a metal bucket for sure. :)
*edit
nope, not a well pump but closer than wash basin
if you can't get this by 11 (25 mins from now) i'll put up a slightly less cropped image. it's sitting in my workshop, already uploaded with the full crop pic

I'm thinking that it's a critter operated water fountain for some kind of animals, although I've never seen one like this before.

Its a Colt National Match.... and the "Nat" is on the slide, not the barrel. The barrel is inside the slide..
