When I was a kid, nobody wore jeans except working men & ranch hands, & like that. My first pair of jeans made a loud scratchy noise as I walked, & in those days you had to wear them for about a year before they were broken in, so you bought them long & rolled up the cuffs. Hah! In my lifetime, I have watched jeans move from the ditches & fields & roads to mainstream fashion worn by everyone. Even, the ultimate irony, people paying extra for jeans that are already worn-out in interesting ways, jeans that are 'distressed' when new, etc. Nowadays, denim can have spandex in it so even the People of Walmart are wearing jeans. And the working men & women are still wearing them.
