DPC, you have restored my faith in the human race, at least for a wonderful fleeting moment.

This is exactly how I felt after I saw that this subject was selected.
Thank you again! great challenge.

Seriously you jest.

When one considers all the things that plague this world, I cannot for one instant agree that a challenge such as this did anything of the kind for me.

An interesting challenge it was, but on a personal note, it falls woefully short of the goal you ascribe to it.

Just my two cents.

Ray

Did you enter?

No I didn't but I did vote on all of the images.

Why, does it matter?

I can assure you that even had I participated that I would not have been moved any more and most certainly would not have ascribed a value that some have.

Moving yes... but certainly not to the point of restoring my faith in the human race. The end of oppression, the cessation of untold wars, care of the underprivileged are things that would generate such a feeling in me... a DPC challenge... not so much.

Ray

oh, its the small, simple things in life...

I can see what you are aiming for, and I think I understand your perspective.

Here is mine -
The end of oppression, the cessation of untold wars and care of the underprivileged are basically the same thing - humans trying to do their best in order to fix problems that (other) humans created.
Some will say it's noble, others will say it's pointless.
Well, personally, I don't think it's leading anywhere.

But when we as humans turn our viewpoint and try to do things outside our usual mind set, this sure make me feel like we still have a chance as a race.

I think it's amazing that a photography forum about current scores can get to this level of discussion! It's great!

The only thing funnier than the proclamations of faith restored, the gushing over these mediocre at best photos and the doling out of high scores is the actual challenge itself.

no photographer of the week out of this lot then

...and I would agree with you if the activity had an impact on the human race... this truly does not.

You will never prove that photography does not impact the human race. There is no way to subtract photography out of existence. On the other hand, everything is pointless. Photography is no more pointless than anything else.

I wan't talking about impact on the race. I was talking about my own personal opinion of the race.

There is no way this will stay above 6. I have been thinking I will close my eyes more often though.
