A #8642 cabinet latch. The other part is a curved flat spring that sort of clips around the wheel part of it when you close the door.

Sure, but that's only due to the fact that we are much stronger at 60 and can readily bend things with our bare hands...

It is attached to a plate, the whole unit is an adjustable device.
