bhuge Followed you.
briantammy I will follow you as soon as it lets me. Says "You have followed too many people today". Nice. Whatever. Thinking this site (500px) may actually begin to piss me off.
Seeing that I only followed 2 people so far today, doesn't make a lot of sense to me. There is a limitation of how many people you can follow in a day? Or is that in a 24 hour period? Cause I followed a lot yesterday.
Oh well. I will have to check back at this tread to add more people when it allows me. :)

24-hr period. I guess the 500px equivalent of trolling is unregulated "following", since they kind of give points according to your social activity, as far's I can see. Sort of weird experience so far... When I post an image it's visible on the front page for like 30 seconds before it gets pushed off. I wonder how anyone ever FINDS anyone new in that site?

Robert, go to Photos, choose Fresh or Upcoming, select a category. Naturally this can be done with Popular and Editor's Choice, but new folks, or those with few followers, tend to languish in Fresh/Upcoming.

I find lots of great images - have a look in popular and upcoming and I then hit various profiles of images I like and look at people they follow e.t.c. I get more from the network of peoples following then from the main image lists anyway.
I actually think it's a great site (but I don't see the limitations I see here cause I paid for the awsome label). I ignore the magic numbers of status or whatnot, so if your trying to increase those there is some info on the blog about how those numbers work - although they try hard to stop people gaming them.... I am just not into that whole scene :-) |

I think the site is somewhat similar to flickr in that one must get a few contacts (e.g. from DPCers) who will give your photos views and likes. Eventually the photos appear in "upcoming" and gain steam and by the time you reach "popular" you will get even more likes, favorites, and contacts. I think it's somewhat of a slow cycle, but once you're there you're there. At least that's how it seems to work to me.
ETA: and thanks for the link on "safe for work"

I really like 500px but I shoot in 6x6 anyway so the square is perfect for me. |

Here I am...check back for something, lol.

Do you sometimes upload some of your DPC stuff or just whatever you want? Some of the stuff here and on FB are things I like, but do I dare upload them (again)?

I am going through all my photos, trying new PP ideas and selecting my Top 10 in 10 categories. I am planning to setup a portfolio on 500px with my own domain name. I still don't quite know how the portfolio works as I don't want all contents of the portfolio to be scored. I'll have to read the instructions!! =:O (usually the last thing I do :) |

fyi:
500px just updated their upgrade options, the new option bridges the gap nicely between casual user and pro:
