What's this snow you speak of?
I live in the south and have seen our city close schools because they predicted snow. Oh, it didn't snow so the schools closed on a snow day without snow.

Yes, last year we had the exact same event. A non-snow snow day. Snow is not common here at all. |

Sigh... after a good 5 months of sweating here in Brisbane, Australia, those snow photos look ever so good! |

We've gotten like a grand total of 3 inches for the entire winter this year. Yay! I hate snow. 81 degrees tomorrow and Friday. |

I hope that blizzard stuff has calmed down and you've been able to get out and do what you went there for. If not you're going to go home 10lbs heavier from all those waffles! |

On October 26, 2011, we received 17" of snow. Since then, we've ony seen traces of snow. It's been different this winter. Now we are without snow and ice. And, the dryness is worrisome.

We're in PHX this week, and on Monday we had snow as close as the Superstitions, only an hour east. Prescott had several inches, and up in places along the rim they had almost two feet of the white stuff. Here in PHX it was in the 50s, while back in WI it was 75 :-P

So that's where our snow went! We were supposed to get another 2-5 inches last night. I woke up to zip, zero. Just the same slushy view out my window I had yesterday afternoon. Where's your pictures of the beautiful "P-town" wonderland? |

You didn't get ANYTHING from the early February storm that shut down Denver International and forced us to drive all night to get over the mountains to Steamboat before the weather got really bad, and which we did by convoying with spiritualspatula for security? (Again, a big thanks to Derek!)
Anyway, that was a strangely localized weather pattern I guess. We were driving through snowstorm until we reached the pass over to Steamboat, but Steamboat itself didn't get any snow... There was no snow on the streets or sidewalks at Steamboat, though the mountain was skiable...

Yep. The mountain snows have been hit and miss. I haven't used my snow shovel all winter. The line chart below tells the story. Unless we are rescued by big snows in the next 60 days, there won't be enough water for irrigation crops AND suburbanites on the front range. Too early to panic, but someone is going to have their water shut off

I didn't grab a picture this morning, but I think my hedge of junipers is in serious trouble. They are (were) at least 15 feet high and now are more like 8 feet high and drooped all over the fence and yard. Don't know if they are going to spring back. |

They'll be fine, but it will take a while for them to regain their posture :-)

Whoa! Last year was HUGE! This year's looking grim.
Meanwhile, back on the Cape, the golf courses have been open pretty much all winter, save for a few days here and there. Daffodils and such are out, the migrators have returned early, we've been out on the water a couple times already; by far the mildest winter I've experienced here, and I've been here 12 years. Only had to dig my driveway once, and it wasn't much of a dig either, just a few inches. It was all gone in 4 days.

One of my patients notified me this was the most snow Eugene has had since 1951. I guess my gazebo has passed the 50+ year test. |

I just spent nearly an hour trying to verify that using weather sites and couldn't find squat. The newspaper does confirm it though.
Snags from Register Guard
7 inches as measured at the Eugene Airport
The weather service said it was the largest snowfall ever to hit Eugene this late in the season.
A snowstorm that ran March 5-7 in 1951 dumped 7.6 inches on Eugene, according to the weather service.
On March 3-4, 1916, a total of 13.7 inches fell. On average, Eugene receives half an inch of snow in March, often in the first 10 days of the month. |

I biked to work and took a few photos on the way. But alas, I can't process a RAW at work. You will have to wait until this evening.
Doc, nice work on the 50 year gazebo! |

The Dollar Store thermometer in my office is just a bit above 28C. The building isn't in "Summer Mode" yet. Bleh. Beautiful outside though. I'll probably cut out a bit early.

It has been in the mid to upper 80's (That's about 30C for you metric people) all week here. The flowers are blooming, leaves are coming on... . Ridiculous.
I don't mind the weather being nice this early, but since we never really had any hard freeze, I predict a very buggy spring and summer. That and if the blooms are this far along now, it could freeze again and injure a lot of crops. |

Indeed. No killing frost, and if we have some wet in the next few weeks we will be awash in mosquitos.
