I don't think so, no...

Yes, it can be done in PSE.

Any idea how?

It has been a while since I did it. I just followed the tutorial way back then.

The original thread tells you how it's done.

Yeah, I saw that and tried to follow it on PSE. Got seriously lost. Seemed to be a bit different.

Very nice, PuppyDogMom. Just a word of warning, flip and blend can be addictive.

Thanks for bumping this up -- I needed to edit something "just for fun" ...

I'm glad to see this thread revived. When I changed computers last time, my 'action' for this went away.
This just might give the impetus to figure out how to do it again.

Meanwhile, this image belonging to pixelpig still gives me a thrill. Those colors!

does this sort of thing count? a little more than flip and bend but did start life as a picture of incense smoke :)

Ecce Signum gave a very nice tutorial on how to make this piece.
It's in the comments section of his image.
It's one of those that you figure out as you go along and then stop when it looks right.
we all know how that goes.
:)
But the methods he uses are fun to play with.

PS it will take me most of tomorrow to figure it out. And what a pleasure that will be.

I've been flipping and bending my incense images for a couple of months now and this is my (current) favorite created from a single shot of incense smoke.

Wow. Now you've given the rest of us flip 'n blend folk something to aspire to.
Well done.

Pleased to see a revival going on here. And, Wow! Ecce Signum, this really takes things in new directions. No chance of stagnation for a while now, I would think.
