I will grow old living in a cardboard box, or at Art Roflmao's house as part of his posse.

As far as I know,
Yankees like their 401K's,
Canucks like their RRSP's.

But what investment, if you have the nards, do you put in your retirement fund?

My bank tries to sell me on their Mutual Funds, some safe, some not so safe. ETFs are also out there. If you fancy yourself some sort of genius, I suppose you could gamble on your own mix of stocks.

What is one to do?

haha, I bought some "SOCL", an ETF, on nasdaq a while back as it may have access to the actual IPO, which the rest of us mortals will not. I'm at a profit on it, so far.

I've made some sweet moolah on some options just this last two weeks, and it wasn't from an African Princess.

I would love to have some physical gold bars, the stuff just feels so amazing! I would no doubt do nasty things to it!

At a second year geology field camp, while doing a mapping project near an old gold mining camp, my partner and I found some weathered malachite which fit all the physical properties of gold (to us). We freaked out. The teaching assistant laughed his ass off, but congratulated us for being so observant where nobody else was. Real gold has an effect. :-)

It's a special fund, only sold through a brokerage in Nigeria. I'll send you the number.

Actually, The TD Bank Precious Metals mutual fund made ~20% over the last 10 years. But of course, Canada kicks arse at exploration. While Americans can dig up what they find on surface, Canadians can discover what's beneath.

''Well, the key is you got to di-ver-si-fy wi' yer money. What we'll do is we'll take half of it, put it in a big mayonnaise jar, bury it out in yer backyard. The other half we'll take down to the dog track and bet on the one that does his business right before the race starts.'' - Jeff Foxworthy

Sadly, likely just about as profitable as any market strategy. :-D
