They are wonderful i know but i think we should stop.
I've found myself lazily using 'wonderful' as a description far too much. To the point where i now think to myself 'What am i doing? I have a better vocabulary than that!!'
It gets silly. This photograph is, to my mind, pretty wonderful but really....
Too much 'Wonder' spoils the broth or something.
So, for a New Years Resolution i am going to throw away 'wonderful' and replace it with something more wonder-full instead. And i propose others might like to do the same.
So, whenever you are grasped by an image and it speaks to you in the way that only the best images speak to you, don't go for the 'wonderful' comment! Instead go for two or three other words instead. I'm going to do it (and i'm a repeat offender) and i hope you will too!
*petition to end the wonderful comments ends*

haha what a wonderful idea!
A good comment without adjectives is difficult to write.

Speaking for myself, I like to know what was your first reaction. Sometimes my first reaction is...nothing. Is that the fault of the photo or do I need to make another emergency appointment with my therapist? Who knows!
To the above image, I might have said that I am blinded by the light coming off the wall, & the grass looks like it's under water. And as I gaze at that window I start to imagine what might be on the other side, in the musty dusty dark with little beams of light coming thru the holes in the roof. Is it keeping company with the dessicated remains of a poor soul locked there by someone who then abandoned the him to die slowly alone in the dark? Do the locals sometimes see a face at that window, mouth open in a silent scream? Hm?

I find that "unbelievable" will work for both positive and negative comments ... |

Dweurgarian
as in 'The house shook like a Dweurgarian cinder in the sieves of Niflheim'
Now, i know that is quite obscure but i do truly believe that if we, on DPC, are really going to progress as photographers then we really should learn a basic understanding of archaic Scandinavian. Otherwise we are just wasting our time. |

Conversely, you could get a series of comments from people like me... that ought to balance this out for you.
Wouldn't that be wonderful. :O)

I'll sign the petition, although it completely useless. But we have a nice voting system here and 1 vote says often more than 1000 words :) |

That is my next petition. A petition to appreciate the completely useless. It's a tricky line to draw but i say forget the line and turn it into something else equally as useless instead.
The Brotherhood Of Nothing & The Completely Useless!
C'mon all you dadaists and worshippers of the inane!!
