The entire family (all four of us) have been battling the stomach flu for the past three days. Needless to say, it's been cutting into my shooting time, so I may have to skip this one. :( On the upside, the kids seem to be doing alot better. :)

LOL.
Time to whip out the dictionary. Here are some alternat es for "window".
An interval of time during which an activity can or must take place...a window of oppurtunity!
Strips of foil dropped from an aircraft to confuse enemy radar (...)
A range of electromagnetic frequencies that pass unobstructed through a planetary atmosphere.
and lastly the one most of us will see
An opening constructed in a wall or roof that functions to admit light or air to an enclosure and is often framed and spanned with glass mounted to permit opening and closing.
Good luck to all!

"Find an interesting view" is the hard part. All the challenges are so subjective. (I'm not complaining, just commenting.) |

If the view is kind of ordinary, think of a way of capturing it that would make it interesting. Easier said than done. |

I don't know how mine will do, but I had fun thinking of different ideas. I can't wait to see what all the 'clever' peeps came up with! It was a fun challenge for me.

Well, now I finally came up with a good idea I think....but it's Sunday evening on an overcast day and I'm sick :( . I don't think I'll be in either of the current challenges unless this blasted bronchitis eases up. Oh well....I'll concentrate on leaving some good comments when voting this time. |

I came up with an idea and I've submitted but I'm scared because of the quality of the shot. It was hard to make this interesting and apparently from the low number of entries a lot of people are feeling the same way. I may create an alternate personality so I can disqualify myself if everyone hates it or doesn't get it . . . Is that cheating? |

It's not allowed, and wouldn't work anyway, since window is a member challenge. You would have to pay for your alternate personality in order to do the DQ request, I believe.
They don't want people withdrawing their photo because you don't like it, or people don't like it. This does put pressure on you to only submit things you think are good enough yourself, and that could meet your hopes and expectations in the challenge. Which is why I miss so many challenges. The latest: I had a picture I thought was OK for Wheels, but I didn't think it would score my goal of 5.5 or above -- so I decided to withdraw it before the challenge began. You might want to simply sit this one out. |

Thanks for the advice, nshapiro. Though, I have a feeling that I need an all time low score, so I know how it feels. Maybe bad for business, but that way I can get over the disappointment. Besides the people at either end get more comments than those in the middle. Maybe I'll luck out. |

I just realized how arrogant that sounds. Please forgive me. I'm sure I'll have some low scoring entries, compared to what I have now anyway. I just hope that I get some helpful comments on mine this round. I'm going to leave it in despite my better judgment. |

I had a great idea, unfortunately I could not find the materiels to do it properly. I ended up changing it a bit, but was very dissapointed in the results. So I am sitting this one out and feeling bad about not getting the shot I wanted.
Maybe I will work on it some more and, if I get the shot I want, post it just for the heck of it. |

Hey, you never know until you try. My picture technically sucks, but what the heck. I was willing to undergo ego bruising for the sake of the challenge. I entered the fun of it, I guess. I don't even know what I'm doing yet, so you guys who've been around the proverbial block should try as well. Go for it! Enter if you still find photography fun. If it's not fun anymore, what's the point?

argh.
Just my two cents. Is a window a window if it doesnt have glass? (i.e. just a window frame). I certainly thought so. I confused MANY voters so far.

"often frames" to me does not mean always. |
