Wine glasses and refraction...oh yeah!

I challenge EVERYONE to approach *this* challenge from an oblique angle: think in terms of symmetrical asymmetry (or asymmetrical symmetry). How about it?

I wish I was home right now. There is a place I have always wanted to go take photos at that has a loooong line of pylons on the water. I think it would be awesome. Buuuttt... I am not home. Time to rethink my game plan. Lol.

Don't forget circular symmetry.

I have a feeling you are going to see a bunch of foliage water reflections...

not as much helical symmetry or plays on the topic for fear of the dreaded DNMC lowball vote.

doesn't anyone know how to get the past challenges and post them here...I'm to lazy because I have to do it manually and I know there's a faster way...but I can't ever seem to remember how to do it...sigh

Mine from Symmetry III...everyone just has to open their eyes and SEE things. I hope we get beyond a bunch of foliage water reflections!

is this a pretty fair definition

sym·me·try/ˈsimitrē/
Noun:
1. The quality of being made up of exactly similar parts facing each other or around an axis.
2. Correct or pleasing proportion of the parts of a thing.

so they have to be facing or around an axis not in parallel say as that would be parallel not symmetry???

also in the advance rule set and ive read them a few times but struggling to define it so asking, could you mirror your image to create the symmetry or would that be outside the rule set??

Is this image is what Robert means symmetrical asymmetry?

Only way would be to mirror your subject in a mirror or water etc. (i.e. reflection). You couldn't do it legally in post production.

Parallel objects are definitively symmetrical across an axis.

Well, when you see my entry, you'll say "... and now for something completely different." ;)

also in the advance rule set and ive read them a few times but struggling to define it so asking, could you mirror your image, so copy the main element mirror it and paste it back in to create the symmetry or would that be outside the rule set?? [

no this is not allowed...it has to be one "complete" capture...you might be able to do that in Expert...not sure although

Parallel objects you definitively be symmetrical cross an axis.

So, is there an English translation of this?

ok, so reflections count, correct?
wanna make sure...

hey! i worked a long time on that pic, and i think its fs worthy;) besides, my team told me it was symmetry-able, so just want to be sure!

Right, so: no faith in me, no faith in team, oh dear... ;-) Meanwhile, you have PM.

I am in. I wish the challenge was "Sort of Symmetrical" or "Not Quite Symmetrical". The strict interpreters are going to be big trouble for me. Enter your strongest image not the one that best fits the challenge description, right? Oh, well. Bring on the DNMC police.
