I've been using my Blackberry for about 2 years now. Lost it once (Insurance replaced it), broke the second time (Insurance covered it since it was some error it couldn't get out of) and I lost a third one over the summer (Insurance paid for it but I've been told I can't lose another phone until December when I get my 3 chances back).

Anyways, I like the keyboard for emailing. It's about the only thing I like about it. The camera sucks, the apps aren't that great, can't view videos online with any ease.

My dilemma is I'd have to change providers (Which I don't want to do because I've got a really good cheap plan) and I'm not too keen on using the touchscreen keyboard for texting (Although I'm wondering what others who have made the change over feel). I could always go Android (Wouldn't have to change carriers, but I'm not too sure about the features.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Any advice?

Before my iPhone, I had a Blackberry. I hated that damn phone. Like you said, the only good thing was the keyboard, which since I changed I don't miss either. I love the iPhone.

check out the windows phones, some have keyboards, but really the screen keyboards aren't that hard to get used to.

I actually have both... a Blackberry Curve for work, and an iPhone for personal use (in fact last night I just ordered a new iPhone 4S to replace my old 3G).

Personally I hate the Blackberry, especially the keyboard. I only use it because I have to. I would never own one by choice. My wife also has a Blackberry for work which she hates the keyboard on and is about to get my iPhone hand-me-down.

To be honest, the camera on the old iPhone is pretty hopeless. I have yet to see what difference the 8mp will make on the 4S. The camera controls are excellent though being a touchscreen it's so intuitive and easy to use.

As far as the virtual keyboard to type. It is so much better then the Blackberry keyboard. The amazing thing about the virtual keyboard is actually the software behind it. It is very clever at working out what you intended to type rather than what you actually typed so is very good for people with stubby finger too. Although the autocorrect does sometimes come up with some great errors - Damn You Autocorrect!

I would recommend going to an Apple store and having a play with an iPhone - try using the keyboard etc. That's what I did, having never been an Apple fanboy before, I fell in love with the interface and how "magical" it all was. Steve Jobs was right.

RIP Steve

I just picked up my new iPhone. As soon as it's done syncing all my iTunes stuff I am going to shoot a couple shots to compare the camera in the iPhone 3Gs and the Iphone 4S. The camera is supposed to be revamped - not just to 8mp, but also new lenses.

I went from BB to Android and my I4s is on the way. In a few days you will know how good the Siri voice app is on the Iphone 4s. As it stands, you may not need to use a physical or virtual keyboard. In fact, my Android does a very good job laying my spoken words into text also.

A good android phone is every bit as good as an iPhone. Better in some aspects. I'd stay away from Windows phone though.

Android vs iPhone really just comes down to personally preference. Never using either I got a HTC Evo 4G android, and my girlfriend I got an iPod touch. I found the Android much easier to pick up and learn. Everything just made more sense, seemed to work more like a PC. Has a nice notification bar and has physical buttons for stuff like search, preferences, menu & home button. Apples really seemed like it was made for looks over function and I found myself having a hard time finding stuff like menu or settings. That being said, once you get the feel either one works well, I just found the Android easier to pick up.

App wise, Apple is going to have some that aren't available on Android, but I think Android has a lot more that will never be available on iTunes due to Apples restrictive app policy. There's also Amazon's app store for android which gives you a free paid app every day. Android is also more customizable. You can download apps that will completely change the UI on your phone called launchers.

So as I'm sure you've noticed I prefer Android far more than the iOS. But it really does come down to preference. Do you want to be able to customize your phone to work exactly how you want it to (Android) or do you want Apple to decide what apps you can have and how your phone should look and work.

curious as to why?

its not the old windows mobile, its a full featured phone os on par with iOS and Android. It fact i'd even argue its a more modern interface than the dated iOS look or its ripoff android.

My sister has one and want's her Android back. Said the app selection is horrible. Who knows maybe it'll actually be a success this time, but it's coming into a pretty saturated market full of Android and iPhones. I wouldn't take the chance. Maybe in a few years if it's successful and developers start making apps for it then it can be a 3rd solid option. More competition is always good. But right now I think it'd be like buying HD-DVD during the HD-DVD/Blu-ray war. It might be a success, but it could very easily not be, and be forgotten.

That's because hasn't marketed it yet, wait till they make the year and push. I'll admit the initial offering was lacking but the new mango update put it feature with Android and ios. Yeah the app market isn't as big but most of the big name apps are there.

Oh and its not going anywhere, once windows 8 hits tablets next year, its going to push the phone market even more.
Plus they will most take over the business market from RIM since it has ghe exchange integration and virtual desktop.

I just hope people give it z shot without brushing it off now. Its an insanely sweet interface that has a social integration that ghe other platforms can't even touch. You think ios is easy to use? Try wp7. My mom has an Android and can't wait till her contract is up to get a windows phone. Android us too much for her.

Don't discount it based on what windows mobile was. Its a much much better platform. The metro interface is perfect for touch devices.
