Wow, he went through hell to get the shots but soooooo worth it :) Stunningly beautiful video.

One thing I'd like to know it how does he control exposure for that? best I can think of is program mode maybe... Anyone else have thoughts on achieving almost consistent lighting like that? I know from experience shooting sun rise/sets the light can change drastically every 30 or so seconds.

What a trouper he is! And his work is amazing!

Incredible. The milk way one is amazing as well. I don't know anything about streaming media, but it is incredibly choppy and barely watchable on my mac. My bandwidth is decent and I normally don't have a problem. Is that some special high-res video that's gumming up the works? Or is my antiquated hardware not able to handle it?

Erm - as you're from Llandudno.

I read the stuff he'd written about taking the pictures, see, which included only just managing to swim ashore after falling in a sea that may well be colder than the Menai straits. Then there's the broken ribs and the lost and broken equipment ... It's not like they're tourist snaps.

You said a mouthful there!
I didn't immediately see which lens(es) he used, wonder if he's still using the 24/1.4?

It's bandwidth... I know that on my connection, I have to start it, pause it and wait a little to let the download get ahead. It then plays smoothly. I do have very fast hardware (i7 2600k @ 4.4GHz, 8GB of DDR3-2000 RAM) but my video card is an entry-level workstation card, not very powerful at all. Try my work-around and see if it solves the issue. Even if you have a very fast connection, it may be server-side bandwidth limitations.

Edit for typo

You know, I think I've decided the pan movements from time lapses like this add so much to the enjoyment. It gives a huge three dimensional impression that you don't get from still photography. I think the real panning on a dolly gives you more than the virtual panning that can be done in-frame.

Awesome stuff Terje! Inspiring.

Huh? I could do just as good with the same equipment and a piano playing friend.

Ya I could do just as well. If I had the tools. And the time. And the will. And the foresight. And the talent.
