By 'selective saturation' do you mean that you made a selection on the image and then applied hues/saturation, ...or did you use 'selective colors'? (I'm assuming you're using Photoshop 7 or CS.) |
Desaturated certain colors which is legal for basic editing... using Photoshop Elements.

Honestly, I think that is the worst way the rules could go.
Along that road is a list of every tool and every button in every tool and every menu item you are allowed to use.
Personally I think the rules should be heading in the opposite direction entirely from that.

As long as the colour adjustments being discussed here are applied to the image as a whole, I personally consider it should be legal in the basic ruleset, since it has the same effect as the hue/sat etc controls, which are definitely legal.
Since there are many different graphics programs in use by submitters, we have to write rules to cover general processes, rather than application-specific functions.
