Apple's Aperture for importing. Delkin Firewire CF card reader/writer. |

Caree, send me a couple files to try and let's see what we can figure out! |

But, I have Aperture, I just don't know how to use it. BUT...if any software would work to open Caree's files, then save them in CS5 for her...that might help!

Sending files won't help. They need to come off the card clean. |

You could pretend like you don't know anything about the wedding. Don't communicate with them, and when they finally call you, asking for the photos, pretend that they're crazy. In the meantime, create an alibi. Find someone who was far away on a trip and get their airline ticket and hotel receipts.

I'm pretty good at recovering files like this. If you send me one of the broken ones at my email address (the gmail one), I'll see if I can figure out what's going wrong, and then let you know how to fix them.
Make sure you send a file straight from the originals, not one that has already had recovery attempts done to it.
Hm, come to think of it, send one of the ones that DOES work too, as a control.

Rescue pro didnt help. Im trying the other one that you guys suggested the cardrecovery- sending files wont help- the files are empty- I was up till 7 am trying things out- I will letyou all know what cardrecovery does! *crosses fingers* at this point id be happy with a handful because I have all the "posed" shots- its just the ceremony and the sunset shots that I have lost.... I also tried another memory card in camera and it worked fine.... so im convinced its the card -- ordered 3 more this morning of a better brand. (went name brand this time) but I doubt ill be doing any more weddings... if I cant get these photos--

The file you sent me is not empty. I'm still fooling with it and will let you know if I get anything.

Write protect the card (in case no one has suggested that yet), to make sure nothing overwrites anything that may be recoverable.
Now here's a question: When you put it back in the camera, can you see the "corrupt" shots and review them? That would be a good sign! |

At first I could, then it started saying Cannot view files.

The file length is zero? That's... not good.
I was going to suggest that the card may have gone bad, but that doesn't help your situation.
I'm not sure why people are saying "files sent won't be any good--they need to come off the card clean." If you copy a file from the card directly to your email program, the technology is such these days that you aren't losing data. If someone who has posted this would like to clarify why they believe this won't work, I'm all ears. However, I've never had problems with file content being changed during an email transmission. |

Would there be a chance to redownload, camera to computer, the photos using Canon EOS? Maybe bspurgeon mentioned this, but it would be worth a try. Then try opening them in Preview first to see what's there before opening in CS5? |

Oh, and while the card is in the camera....PROTECT ALL OF THE PHOTOS on the card, then proceed. |

Originally posted by haze: //www.cardrecovery.com/os.asp software works really well. It should even be able to recover images you had on the card previously and deleted. You wont be able to recover all of them.. but it should work for at least some. Give it a shot. |
Its giving me the same photos that are already showing... the ones that dont work arent showing up-

I had a similar problem -- images I could see on the camera, then wouldn't open on the computer, then couldn't see on the camera anymore. One difference, they were JPG, not CR2.
I used Lexar Image Rescue, and it worked like a charm. It recovered all files from the card. On the website, there is a trial version that can be downloaded without having to pay first. |

it doesnt matter which recovery software I use... Ive bought 2 and used 2 freebies- its giving me the same set of images that I already have- its as if the others dont exist. Recovering isnt the solution. I am afraid there might not be one.

Quickly go to another wedding, take some shots similar to the missing ones, slip them in. They won't know the difference..... maybe. If they do, blame it on the printer. |
