I love funny comments; maybe it was me.
I can't stand comments that point out that the challenge was not met, or that it looks like a snapshot- useless to me. [/quote]
yeah me 2 .. i got a comment its says it looks like a snapshot .. :/ and the pic doesnt look like that .. its a useless comment .. we need sth to make us improve not to let us down or not giving us a good advice !! |

I didn't enter this one (thank goodness).
This is probably the highest I've ever scored a challenge:
Stats: You have rated 52 of 52 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 6.8269.
There is exceptional work in this Challenge. Nicely done, all who entered.
It ain't easy!
dang it, this wrong thread business is contagious.
I meant to post in the Painting with Light Challenge!

I do my best to comment as much as possible. I try to see the best in shots. If I notice a trend I try to point it out. |

Okay, so I've been trying to comment on every photo in this challenge and it's not easy! There have been a lot of complaints lately about the disappointing lack of comments being made so I thought, I'm off for a few days (yay!) & why not give it a try. I've spent a couple of hours, attempting- sometimes with great difficulty- to come up with what I think are fair comments. Some photos "speak" to me & leaving a word or two for the photographer is relatively effortless. Others are so obviously superior in quality that they are also easy to comment on. Then there are the photos that I may not connect with & therein lies my challenge. If I leave a negative comment, I try to also add something positive. Since I am only a novice photographer, I have received my share of " negative" comments and these are usually the ones that help me learn & grow. I actually don't consider them to be negative at all, as long as they given with good intentions.
So now it comes to my reason for this post- After having spent much time & effort making what I hope are fair and sometimes fun comments, I come to this forum and read posts where some photographers are complaining about the type of comments they're receiving. It's kind of disappointing to be honest BUT to those of you who receive a comment from me & take a second to check the' helpful' box, thank you! I know that I have learned from some of the comments that have been left for me, felt proud of others & enjoyed a laugh at a few others. Hope I can return the favour.
Now, I think I'll get back to commenting! |

If I received that comment, I would definitely find it helpful. It would tell me that the photo I took looks like I spent very little effort in composition, post processing, or a number of other factors that give a photo a snapshot feel. I would then examine my own photograph deeper to try to understand why it's coming off as a snapshot to other people, and learn what I can do to overcome this in the future.
doremi, that's he perfect attitude to take. I too have done a ton of commenting only to find some people were not appreciative of it and complained either openly or in private. I don't let it get to me as I know that what I have done is stir something up in them, and even if they don't realize that at first, I'm betting that in the end it really does help them to improve. |

Ignore those. For every 1 or 2 people who complain about comments, there are about 50 who welcome any comments. Notice how many people bemoan the lack of comments. :)
Thanks for the hard work, and ignore the naysayers. |

This image was a 7.000 with 7 votes. Quite a fall since... and a big disappointment. The one comment is nonsense. |

No, it wasn't you. And, not doremi. doremi's comment was constructive and I marked it helpful. The joker who left the nonsense comment on my image has never entered a challenge and seemed to go just a bit out of his way to say something without value. |

I definitely agree. I would rather receive a comment explaining why someone voted low than or what they didn't like about my photo than no comment at all. |

| i didnt enter this challenge, but as i scored them i didnt look at the title, and tried to guess which sense they were trying to convey and there were a good 20 per cent when i couldnt. i thought there were alot of good photos which i scored low because they didnt convey a sense. they may have been improved by being in the other challenge with a bodged up title. just my thoughts. |

i would always welcome any comments that would say that my pic is nt gd enough .. but i would prefer that the commenter would why he/she said so .. and if it looks like that or its looks bad .. next time i know how to improve it |

I score all the pics first, then I go back and favorite the ones I really like. So it is possible that someone favorited the pic without voting, and at the same time someone else voted lower.
ETA: make it understandable (I hope) |
Thank you, I really was not referring to your vote but to the average vote and score. One should think that with a favourite and 4 positive comments, the average score would be higher.
thank you indeed for the fav. |

how many times do i have to tell this
if you think a pic is worth a 6 than you have to give it a 7
because one 5 with a trillion 6
wont make it a 6
(good lord what a stoneheads) |

ouch... That was a really hard one on which to vote! Some of the senses, in particular, were so much harder to do than others. I found myself going through once and voting, then going back and upping the vote for anyone that I thought fit the challenge. Usually, fitting the challenge is tied in with my votes, but since this one was so difficult, you got an extra point for just fitting the challenge.

Oh wait. Sense of deja vu is the wrong challenge. |

I thought this would do slightly better, but the last comment was great. It pointed out some obvious flaws that I should have seen and will definitely keep in mind the next time I take a shot like it. |

Okay, my friends. I finally did comment on every image in a Challenge. so, yes, I shall pat my self on the back and urge everyone in range to try that exercise. It'll give you a good feeling of accomplishment. Also some scary bits when you wonder if people are "okay" with no-nonsense critiques.
Details: Photograph something that represents one of the five senses (e.g. taste, smell, sight, Touch, or hearing).
Stats: You have rated 77 of 77 images (100%) in this challenge.

Thanks for your effort! I too joined the 100% comment club with this challenge. I would also encourage others (who have a bit of spare time on their hands) to give it a try. It's definitely challenging but quite rewarding. As always, I've been inspired by the unique viewpoints & creativity of the DPC community! |
