So, will I be the only one to enter "Sight" and use a... gasp.. "Photograph" to represent seeing???
What are a more interesting take on this, besides a plate of food or a cooking fire and call it "taste"?
or a concert performance called "hearing"? A hug will be touch...
This one seems very much a free study one to me. You can enter a dog shot in the non five senses and call it "love" or "devotion" or even "loyalty"
I can't think of what a DNMC can be for this, unless your title is very badly chosen. A non senses shot of sand called "tranquility". Beer bottles call it "celebration"
Ok, so my afternoon portrait cancelled, his baby is sick. Extra forum time for me today... But what is a DNMC? Those two challenge choices seem to cover everything. |

the picture needs to depict sight, the viewer seeing something doesn't count. you can call it a free study if you want but i think if your image doesn't convey sight or one of the other senses, it wont score well.
i considering the challenge to try and better my photography by trying to convey a "sense" of a sense. |

I agree with your logic completely, making sight actually one of the harder senses to show well.
Smell, taste, hearing or touch seem very well suited to show the sense of with photography.
Well shot food, live music or a babies touch or maybe silk on skin.
Sight as you describe it makes me think of a fisheye lens off a rooftop panoramic view. Or one of those starlight panoramic shots.
A fisheye lens is on my wish list. I can only go to 24mm now. Maybe I'll shoot the sense of freedom for the other challenge instead. |

I did start a thread for this topic but I guess it was not interesting enough to gain a response so I am going to quote myself and hijack this thread! ;-)

So I'm thoroughly confused. I thought we'd jettisoned the "choose one" open challenge in favor the the three challenges during the week...???? |

These challenges seem very similar. Recipe(food) is very similar to Five Senses (taste / smell)
Nat Geo and Bug Macros are the same for bug photogs - followed with more macro, just no bugs...
Pattern and Painting with Light are very similar - once again, you can shoot the same subject for both imho.
With so many interesting challenge ideas posted, seems a better mix of challenge topics is possible.
There is always next week I guess. |

If they are related or opposites it might be a choice, like High Key or Low Key. |
