The thread for discussions of this year's tour.
RULE #1 - NO SPOILERS!!!! Remember, we're all on different time zones, and with work and what not, some of us will be watching recorded versions in the evening. So results discussions should kindly wait a day, yes?
Favorite commercials (US-based coverage) are Bob Roll looking for someone to ride with, and all the gas powered appliances in the Nissan Leaf ad.
Favorite stage - TODAY! I LOVE the team time trial and am glad to see it back! Off to watch... |

Oh, and one neat feature of the team time trial - you really see the difference in the sizes of the riders, and can understand how the size of a bike can matter. The sprinters are big guys; the climbers not so much! |

Yes no spoilers. I watch at night as well.
Although stage 1 was easily predictable, it was still fun to watch Gilbert win. |

Wah. Was doing research on internet and TV providers. Accidentally saw the results for today. I HATE when that happens. I'll watch anyway. I'll have to be more careful tomorrow! |

I recorded, watched the beginning and end. Great finish to watch.
Favorite commercial is the "Be Ok"...I really like that song, and the commercial itself is very cute. I don't usually watch commercials, since I record, but I watched that one. |

Haven't seen that commercial yet, I don't think. What is it an ad for?
And keyz, you're off a little. The blood changing takes place in the hotel, doesn't it? :-) |

Speaking of commercials, does anyone think that guy's real name is Will Power?
And STOP is not French. Why don't the signs say ARRETE? (Or however you spell it.)
Did I hear that someone got relegated yesterday? Don't remember hearing that before... hopefully Phil and Paul will mention it again. |

Stop or stopper (the verb "to stop") are actually in the french dictionnary, but it sound more french to say "Halte" or "Arrêt".
I think that the Pfizer team is a bit better than Johnson&Johnson. But Bayer Healthcare, Roche and Novartis are really some possible good outsiders ! |

SPOILER FOR FRIDAY!!!
(Don't read if you don't want to know.. )
Actually, this is a mini-rant. They really need to take a bit more care in letting guys ride after serious head bonks. Boonen should not have ridden yesterday, let alone today. He was in no shape to sprint, so why ride? And Horner today was just downright scary. Apparently at the end of the race he had no idea why he was behind 12 minutes - freaked him out because he had no recollection at all of the crash. I know the guys want to finish so they have the chance to decide if they can ride the next day, but it's a bit like the NFL guys who keep playing through concussions - the long term effects definitely cancel out the short term gains. |

I'm going to picnic at the side of the road this coming Tuesday and wait for "Le Tour" to fly past, unfortunately they have announced rain all day, it comes through here every few years but this will be the first time i've seen it, looking forward to trying to get some good shots of the crowd and the riders. |

Watching the race this morning, one of the helicopter cameras picked up a large group of Egyptian Vultures feeding on a carcass in the Pyrenees. Awesome! |

My DVR decided not to record the stage this morning. Can somebody who has watched the stage go and visit the NBC website, do they offer stage playback? I would like to watch the as live playback, but I don't to risk a spoiler... |

NBC has a recap of the stage but it is only 3 minutes long.
ITV in the UK has 45 minutes worth of hilights but it may not work in the US, heres the link. TDF
Hope it works for you. |

If you live in the US and have Versus you can watch the whole race. They rerun it about every two hours.
Had to edit, had the wrong channel. Now correct, Versus.

Versus will show again this evening at 8 pm our time, but they start with commentary that gives away the results of the stage - they assume you know by that point who won. They run bits of the Phil and Paul coverage from the morning after that, though.
If you want to watch the NBC Access bit, you have to pay for it. |
