I don't know what's wrong with my shot. I was pretty sure of a 6+ and now my score, after 6 votes, is 5.33. :/

We're in the Enthusiast phase.
To borrow from another thread ...
Enthusiast photogs usually vote just as soon as a challenge opens for voting. Because they are enthusiasts, their votes tend to be 'appreciative.' Next day, folks voting from work, because work is oppressive and depressive in a dystopian sort of way, drag the scores down due to their negative karma. Over the ensuing week, the enthusiasts and dystopians battle - pushing scores up or down depending on their relative numbers. And finally, just before rollover the Ascetics tend to review their votes bumping their scores up in appreciation. And a contrary vector, those who are doing fairly well in the voting but have low self esteem, are bumping down images that might compete with them for ribbons.
In the end, all vectors cancel. In the end, bias cancels. In the end, the collective voters represent a popular market for photos and the market is always right. The market transcends the vectors of bias.
So my children ... accept the wisdom of the market.
Resist the temptation to start a thread titled, "Why did this do so poorly?" Resist posts titled, "The voting system is broken." Resist the temptation to start a thread titled, "All 1,2 and 3 votes should be required to comment."
Relax grasshopper - DPC is a diversion.
All your children will still go to Prom. |

Your're right , there probably is nothing wrong with your shot, its the people's interpretaion, it's all wrong. |

Attracting comments within early voting with a high score is, I think, a good test of sustainability. I'm hoping mine will come up from it's current 6.28 but it feels far too far away to live with your score.

Risen to 6 but don't expect it to stay here. I've never had a shot finish in the 6's for a Free Study. I do like and have high hopes for this shot though.

Yes, I'm pretty much just doing FS entries these days due to time constraints. Believe me, I do not expect it to stay here, I think the first vote is closer to where it will end up :) |
