sorry to be a bore but to clarify things here.
is this site for photographers with digital cameras trying to
produce normal photos? |

Yes. This site is intended to have challenge submissions preserve "photographic integrity" (which to me, means that after all the editing is completed, the submission still looks like it could have been taken directly with a camera). Other sites, such as Worth1000.com, have contests that concentrate on creating "digital art". |

Personally I'd hope people were trying to avoid producing normal photos, but that's just me :^) |

What is a normal photo anyway?
Where a lot of interpretation comes in is this: Could the resulting image be produced with traditional film processing? At least that is the way I look at it. Film processing has it's extremes as well.

I for one take a somewhat liberal view. There is one photo in a current challenge that I thought was very well done, however it would probably qualify to most as "digital art". I thought it was a very creative interpretation, and voted it highly. As a matter of fact it was my highest vote of the challenge.
