So i tried to record what i wanted as the action, i tried to run it on a batch, and it went all wrong. i just wanted a simple water mark on a batch and that water mark never made it on the photos. I dont know what i did wrong.
Selected my logo
copied
pasted
resized
selected layer options and made is soft light
lowered opacity
saved the photo twice (as jpeg and psd)
stopped the recording.
is there anything that i did wrong? any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
~Sofia

Did you see a layer being made where the logo might actually be there, but off the actual photo? I did that once with an action and the watermark was actually there, but do to the orientation of the file and different files sizes ie. crops it was off the viewing area. By clicking on the layer and using the move tool I was able to tweak it etc.
Also you can manually step through your action to see what's it doing and figure out what is going wrong.

The best way to do that is to add your watermark to a shape library. I could explain all in detail but i found an article explaining exactly what i am doing :)

So if you see the layer that the logo is supposed to be on, select that layer and select the top move top and just drag all the way to the left and right to see if the layer logo comes into view. Or you can also try zooming out on your entire photo and selecting transform or free transform from the edit menu to see if you can resize the logo layer and bring it into view.
The other scenario is that the logo layer didn't actually pull the logo in, but since the layer is there that would be a little odd.

| What if you saved your watermark as a PSD file, and then used "File -> Place" instead of copy/paste? The watermark could be on a blank PSD file the size of your photo. You could position the watermark wherever you want on the blank file, and when you place it on your photos the logo will show up in the exact place/same size every time. You could also lower the opacity in your blank PSD file so you wouldn't have to repeat that action each time... |

This makes sense -- I think that your action won't work unless the file containing the action is open -- it would need to include the Open/SelectAll/Copy steps before the logo would be in the clipboard and available to the Paste command. Using the Place command might work as long as PS can always locate the file. Your current action might work if you open the watermark file and copy it to the clipboard immediately prior to running the action.
I think a better bet might be to turn your watermark into a custom Brush and apply it using some variety of "paint" command.
Batch-processing a file using an Action is also likely to run into problems if the pictures in the list are not all the same size or orientation.
Note that we have another on-site tutorial for adding a watermark with a PS action under the Learn menu -- maybe that technique will work for you; I haven't read it recently.
