I know those on the East Coast are probably sick and tired of snow, but we hardly ever get any and tonight it has started! Forecast for a few inches. Now if I didn't have to go to work tomorrow (and sit around because no patients will come because everybody is scared to drive in the snow)... |

Had to shoot this one ISO 6400 and f/1.4. It's those giant flakes when the temp is 31.9 degrees.

Wow 4 responses and we're off to Rantland!
Sweet snow pic doc. I've tried getting shots of snow falling and it's perhaps one of the most infuriating things I've ever done. That damn inverse square law always haunts me.
We're expecting snow here in the next couple days too- hoping to get up into the high country to enjoy all the new fresh snow (area I'm planning on is expected to get around 9 or so inches by the weekend). |

We had snow here on 25 July 1963, it was visible on the ground from ten in the morning till 2.30 in the afternoon, and the whole town stopped working for two days for the event. Sorry, no pictures available. |

Eee! I'm pretty stoked about it too. I've told my people at work in all seriousness that I am to be notified immediately at the first hint of snow. I got an email from the Receiving department tonight titled "URGENT" and the body said, "IT'S SNOWING!!!" What they didn't know was that I had already caught wind of it and was already standing at the Shipping door squirming with glee and shouting, "Eeee! It's sticking! It's sticking!" We got about 3/4" in 15 minutes, and then it melted.
I had better wake up to at least 2 inches. I demand snow!

I was wondering if you got it, Doc. I got an e-mail from my daughter on Whidbey Island, two words only: "ITS'S SNOWING!"

Well, the Blizzard of 2011 was a bit of a bust in the AM, but there's still some hope. There was about an inch on the lawn and things were pretty, but the roads were clear. I felt guilty actually driving the Subaru to work. But at this moment it's coming down pretty hard again. School was cancelled but I'm here at work. :( |

In the Colorado mountains, the "frost free" date is July 4. The date of average first freeze is July 5. It's not rare to have snow on the 4th of July. |

Ya, isn't that funny? But, of course, they only have three snowplows for the whole county which is 4,722 square miles. So basically the snow stays on the roads until it melts. |

We got 5 1/2 inches overnight Monday after having 70 degree days the Thursday & Friday before, they delayed school by 2 hours just because we're a walking district & the town needed time to shovel the sidewalks. The storm before that they didn't even do that and that one was a foot of snow. We had record snow here last winter, so they've gotten pretty dismissive of it this year. |

Oh yeah. I've lived in Albany, NY and Pittsburgh and after growing up in Seattle it was a sight to behold how efficiently snow was removed from the streets. |

that 5 1/2 inches was probably the worst of the year, the roads were frozen slush when i was driving early on them and i think everyone is out of salt becuase i almost broke my neck walking into class. |

Hey, catch up. You should know by now that global warming may cause weather and temperature extremes at both ends. A cold, snowy winter is no contradiction to the theory of global warming. Shouldn't you have moved on to the "OK, it exists, but it's not man made" rant by now?
