I got a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II yesterday.
Everyone is right..it's light, toy like, but fast and loads of fun. I think will be an asset to my camera bag.

Special thanks to Gordon for the guidance.

I used this lens at a christen today (became the godfather for the child), using it at F1.8 at 800/400 iso - very happy with the results - great wee lens ;-)

Got mine yesterday too. Fast, light and sharp.

I got mine this week too. I did a set of outdoor impromptu portraits with it this afternoon. Maybe I'll have some results to show later.

I like this lens quite a bit also. I actually use it more frequently than I do the f/1.4 version that I also own mainly because it is small and light and I think it performs better wide open than its faster brother does. It also works great with extension tubes and diopter lenses for a low cost macro lens.

I have this lens too, it's sweet. Very good in low light conditions and fast.

I'm curious about this, what kind of extension tube does it use and how exactly is that done?

Basically, the extension tube fits between the lens and the camera body. By placing the optics further away, you get closer focus. The Canon extension tubes still couple the lens to the AF system, so you get AF.

James, your Nickle link isn't working.

Sounds like a good price for all three.

Is the image quality affected by the kind of extension tube used? Pretty sure about Canon tubes' compatibility but what's your experience with other brands?
