Yeah, DX on Nikons stands for Digital Crop, while FX is Full Frame Crop.
Edit: Jeb, who wouldn't love that lens?! It's a fabulous lens, but not within the suggested budget this time around.

Umm.....he has $1000....that lens is $899 at B&H new. It's out of stock right now, but.....they have a couple of them in their used store for even less.....

I love my el-Cheapo 6.5MM fisheye but on a crop I do not get the Fisheye Circle. There is a thread on this located here

The Sigma is a good choice but it's very chunky and only really shows its stuff on full frame. I've owned one for several years and I still bought a 12-24 Tokina f/4 for my D200 after reading favorable comments on dpreview.com. No regrets and only $399 new Tokina 12-24
In my opinion, the Tokina is sharper and offers a constant f/4 aperture. I find the zoom range perfect for standard to ultra wide shooting and I don't miss the extre 1-2 mm of other Tokinas. I actually bought mine used for $299. It's built like a tank so worth the risk and leaves room for that 18-200.

Tokina 12-24 is what I used with my d200, and was very satisfied. But it seems that this new Tokina 11-16 is just as good, but faster with f/2.8, so if I were in your situation, I'd go with it. I wish there was an equivalent lens for my full-frame Nikon...(equivalent in terms of price, too, that is ;))
