Is anyone else doing this?

I just took two images, shot at around the same time but two completely different views, and did an HDR Merge on them. I then processed the resultant merge in Topaz Simplify and came up with the following:

The originals:

I seem to recall an HDR merge of some seagulls onto a marsh scene, or something? That someone did not long ago? This seems to be producing wildly different results from more typical blending-via-layer-modes...

No but looks pretty cool. I'll have to give it a go.

What sort of medication do they have you on?

Gotta spend more time with this as it is very interesting but I could not resist running a few shots through Nik HDR Pro just to try it out. I'll fool around more when I get back but take a look at these as they produce some pretty interesting results.

Two different beach scenes

Three different windsurfer scenes while he was flipping

Three different snow geese with mountain scenes

Love this idea. I'm messing around trying to find some images to work together, which is a problem as I really can't spare the time right now.

Robert, I think this is what you are describing, by digifotojo. Check out her stuff. She does a lot of very effective merges in photomatix.

What an excellent idea. I'll have a lot of fun with this one.

Here is one I can call Holy Crap!

This is kinda fun although to make a real piece of art you would have to choose your images carefully and do a bit better job than jsut throwing them together like this. I bet there would be a market out for this stuff somewhere out there.

Not exactly "off the wall", but I've been experimenting with this for a while. It can produce interesting results:
