Do you have a style? Well bust out of it! Create an image that is very different from your usual style - whether in mood or subject. Push yourself. The differenter the better! |

I did that in the magnifying glass challenge... I'm paying a dear price for it too... Although, it is staying above a 4 now... |

That's funny. For my current Contre-jour entry my notes state:
"Quite unlike my stuff. I like that."
It is currently at sub-5 though! |

I don't see how it's possible to evaluate how successfully someone has broken from their usual style without knowing who submitted the photo. This seems more suitable for a side challenge, where anonymity of the submitter is not required. |

I'm not sure that's the issue. The challenge is to step outside your personal box. The winner will be the "best picture", as always. The voters can assume it's a legitimate out-of-the-zone shot, and if it's NOT, well then that'll make for some really juicy forum threading, eh?
I mean, if I entered and won with a skiff-at-sunset-in-the-marsh shot, I'd expect to be crucified :-)

This for instance, would then probably get nailed as DNMC. Make sure you place yourself OUTSIDE the box before you start shooting.

Personally, I'd think it was funny... Low-down, wrong, dirty, cheating, scumbag funny... |

I have always wanted to do a self portrait nude. What a repressed life and style I have had.... But now that can all change! |

Well, it's never too late. You're only 70. Maybe this will become your new style. |

Thanks Bear - that's exactly it. Rather encourage photographer development than cater to nitpicky voters. And yes, as implied, not very different from voting on the 47 steps challenge. That said - boy would I love a Python challenge! |

Alright, I'll tell him, but I don't think he'll be keen. You see, we already got one... |
