Hello there!

This is my first post here and I am looking for help with a photograph.

It is for a Geocache puzzle so I am probably not the first person to seek advice here on such a subject!

Basically, there is a photo that I believe has been photoshopped to hide a set of co-ordinates. I have tried messing around with it myself but I really dont have a clue so thought I would go to the pros for some help!!!

I have downloaded the trial version of Photo Shop but I dont even know where to begin! So would appreciate any advice you can give me.

I am trying to upload a link to the picture in question but it wont allow me as I am a newbie!

Thanks

Dasher!

Assuming the photo is a JPG, there's nothing that using photoshop will 'uncover' in the photo that you can't already see using normal viewing software. If the photo is in photoshop format (PSD) then you might see any layers that were added. But if it's a JPG, photoshop won't give you any advantage.

Thanks for the reply JH! When I open the image in Photoshop, it says that there is only one layer so I guess that rules that out for me...back to the drawing board so!

Thanks again.

Co-ordinates can be stored in the EXIF data held within the JPG - i.e. geotagging.

You should be able to see the EXIF data just by right clicking on the file on your hard drive and selecting properties but I'm not sure that will show you geotag info. Opanda's EXIF data viewer is free and allows you to access all the EXIF data within the file. Alternatively software such as Google's Picasa shouls honour geotags and show you exactly where the photo was taken.

This is probably the most likely scenario. I did a geocache like this, the coordinates were hidden in the photo's EXIF data.

Thanks for the help.

I had a look at the EXIF data but sadly there is no info there either!
