Great way to think of it. I'm not sure if it was written explicitly before, but this further reinforces the idea I see emerging:

It is the journey and not the destination that is important.

other random (poetic?) thoughts:
- pictures that haven't yet decided what they're going to be
- the artist's own struggle to seek and establish an identity

If nothing else, this challenge got me to go back and look through my blur side challenge shots. I liked those when I took them, and I still do.

I know, I know, it doesn't HAVE to be blurred. But this challenge makes blur more ok for more voters than usual.

Oh well. That's it. Zeuszen has posted a moody black and white abstract. Nothing else will ever be good enough now :D

Everyone put their cameras down.

This challenge is a real definition of the PARADOX !

The winners in the "Posthumous Ribbon" challenge are in fact the DNMC's!
This is the logic :

The poshumous entries are defined as (quote) :
"different photos than the ones winning DPC ribbons"
and
"other works not aligned with the mainstream taste"
and
"photos that did not won a DPC ribbon and are not align with the masses taste"

so the DPC winners in this challenge are in fact the DNMC's .
Quod erat demonstrandum...

Well I just submitted my entry. I just had to take the plunge and hope for the best, because I have no idea how it will be recieved. But I really love it, and I learned a lot about this type of photography by trying it. So that is what matters. . .

Right? :)

I gave myself a couple of hours to go out and have some fun shooting for this challenge. I now have too many shots to choose from!

I narrowed it to three - one I feel would have more appeal to the masses (though in this challenge I'm not sure I would be right with that assumption), one my daughter strongly feels I should enter (she was there for it and it made her laugh the way I took it) and the one I feel I will most likely enter as it appeals more to me and I believe that aligns more with the spirit of this challenge. Decisions, decisions...

I am so excited for this challenge, I tried something totally different and I'm in love with it. we should have these challenges more often, it really helped me change my perspective i feel as I have grown as a photographer just by shooting for this. I really hope it does well.

I uploaded my entry last night. Photographed something I have shot before, but have never been totally pleased with the results. This one I really like.

Do you really think a photo of Grog would do well in this sort of challenge?

I thought we were competing for the brown.

One more day of this madness. Voting and scoretending will be easy.
11/25/2010 11:25:17 AM · #120
this may be the most interesting challenge yet. voters will be forced to look at the photos a different way. whether they will is another thing.
and most of all, i wonder who the posthumous ribbons will go to?
