yes, for me a strap that comes off easily is a must-have. I had a strap system once where the male/female connectors were reversed at opposite ends, so when you took the full neck strap off, you could connect the short dangling parts attached to the camera together for a short carry handle that was also out of the way when handholding only, or on a tripod. When I switched to the very good UpStrap system, the main problem I had with it was that they did NOT do that, and the ends on the camera were always in my way and flopping around. They have a "handle" that will connect to both, but it ends up being way too long--if the camera ends of the strap would just connect together directly, it would be perfect.

The ability to remove the strap is one of the main reasons (but not the only one) that I love the Black Rapid R-strap system. I keep a Handstrap on all the time, and it is my preferred method of carry. I can connect the R-strap when I need it, but have it off the camera and out of my way most of the time.

I would love the option to use a variety of straps depending on the situation, but the on-off and dangling ends stuff is a real pain in the butt.

I do like your designs! Another thing you might consider is a substantially longer version that can be used bandolier style (over one shoulder, diagonally across the chest, camera slung low on opposite side). Those types generally don't need to be "grippy" as you want them to be able to slide as you raise the camera (rather than pulling your shirt up! Not a good look for me!)

For really girly straps and cute neck cozies to add to your straps there is also Funky Camera You two should work out a reciprocal business - she has "girl" covered and you have the "boys" covered :-)

Great designs, you've got a good thing going there. I think someone already mentioned the smugmug promotion they were doing a while - if you could find the budget to do something similar and give a load way with your logo on it you'll get loads of internet attention!

We have posters and postcards now! It would be awesome if some of you wanted to hang up some posters, or place some postcards around your area. You can see what they look like HERE.

Souldier created the idea of custom straps and inspired lots of companies like the ones listed here. Except they have over 600 vintage patterns now and you can pick from 30 some colors of recycled seatbelt and end colors. Design your own Custom Camera Strap the way you want it. These straps are super strong. They also have adjustable ones and they handmake each one without getting runs outsourced from a factory (that's factory made, not handmade). The souldier recycled seatbelt strap come highly recommended by some of my friends who shoot for Nat. Geographic. I love all the choices and the fact I can pick every single aspect of the strap.

Thanks BeeCee!! :) :) :)
It seems as though Mr. jroberts has just signed up for DPC to solicit his own camera strap business. Haha... not very sneaky

Your fabric patterns seem much more fresh and modern if that makes sense. The designs of this other guy seem like they went to the fabric store and picked off the discount rack. They call it vintage, but there are ways to do vintage without looking old as you've shown.

This other guy may have a lot more choices, but I gave up trying to look after just a couple pages. I much prefer your website over his. I got annoyed with having to click through multiple pages (on a slow site) just to get the strap large enough to even see. Your images are large enough to see right off the bat if I want to enlarge for more detail.

You've got a good thing going.

Cool stuff, Tom. I don't see one that's perfect for me yet but I'm following you on Twitter now so I'll keep an eye out.

UPDATE! A year and a half later, we're totally offering 100% custom camera straps, and we're the only people in the world to do so! (unless you have 10,000 made in china, of course) Here's the link. So Art Roflmao, you can get your flame (or skull) on! We've sold thousands of straps literally all over the world (lots to DPC folk) and it's awesome. Such a fun business - you should check out some of the custom ones we've made. Our next addition will be straps more safe and more comfortable than neoprene, buuuut we're still designing those so it's a ways off. :)

Can I take one of your original designs, but add text to it? For example, I like the Urban Explorer Orange, but want VitaminB written on it in black.

I want a strap that when I remove it from my camera the ends that stay on the camera are super short (3 to 8cm) so they don't get in the way when I shoot in my studio.

Been looking for years without any luck.

soon! We're trying out different things to make one that's über comfortable.

Definitely - if you check out our Facebook page, you can see an example of someone who did that.

This one's harder than it sounds. We've tested dozens of clips and can't seem to find any that are strong enough to withstand any possible impact to prevent your camera from falling. Still working on it though...

I use the pacsafe for exactly that reason..... @7cm on each end once the strap is unclipped. I have the hand-strap on the right and the short ends of the strap on the left side (have plate with a lug on the bottom left).... Works great for me....

There are two reviews on their site that says the strap slipped off the camera. Has this happened to you robs? Have you done anything to prevent this from happening?
